We’ll begin with learning how to throw the baseball, the basic rules of the sport, and where everything is on the diamond.
Once a level of comfort has been reached between us, and on the field, this is when we can get into the nitty gritty of baseball- we will fine tune aspects of the game, begin discussing the mental side of baseball, improve situational awareness and overall baseball IQ, and get into discussions about how to be our best selves on, and off the field.
Here is where we can really get into the bread and butter of baseball- continuing to hone throwing skills, begin positional drills, improve defensive efficiency and develop sound defensive habits/awareness, and begin discussing hitting.
We’ll continue to learn how to properly throw a baseball, while implementing a strategy to care for our bodies. We’ll cover the rules a little further, and then determine what position sounds the most interesting/where might be a good fit.
During our first lesson, I will take the time to understand what positions you currently play, what positions you’d like to play, your overall physical condition, and where your head is at with baseball currently. We will get to know each other through playing catch, and we will run a few position specific drills so that I can get an idea of where you are.
This is, in my mind, when it will be the most fun for us. We will tailor all lesson plans specifically to your game- and revisit whatever we need to.
Here’s where I will really come in- we can begin BP together. I will throw to you- and we will go through common BP practices, and common mistakes. BP isn’t about constantly letting the big dog eat. We’re going to have laser focused tasks to accomplish at the plate- and we’re going to be the best at them. We will go over everything from hitting counts, to runners on base, to number of outs, and be the best hitters we can be. We will really fine tune your positional skill level, discussing every single thing you have on your mind- and really rise above your competition.
After we have a baseline of your positional skill level, we will continue learning how you approach the game and life through both hitting and positional drills. We will put your situational awareness to the test by working through hypothetical scenarios, and we will get some tee work in- the tee is your best friend. This will help me understand your mechanics.
