Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFirst lesson will be an introduction to basic basketball skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting, while also learning the layout of the court and the fundamental rules of the game.
Lesson 11+Start playing against other people. Show off what you learned and continue to perfect it into your game.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 will scrimmage to introduce game situations. This will help players apply everything they’ve learned so far in a real game environment.
Lesson 2-3Lessons 2-3 will focus on ball handling and basic footwork, which are essential for developing control and agility in the court.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonFirst lesson focuses on refining ball handling techniques, particularly under pressure and developing decision making in live game situations.
Lesson 11+Lessons 11+ is all about practicing game time scenarios. Playing 1 v 1 and 5 v 5. It reinforces decision making and executing under high stakes situations.
Lesson 4-10Session 4-10 focuses on refining defensive principles, including defensive positioning, closing out on shooters and switching within team defense.
Lesson 2-3Lesson 2-3 centers around shooting accuracy and efficiency, ensuring players can make high pressure shots, as well as reinforcing advanced footwork techniques on both ends of the floor.
Youth players
Working with kidsWhen working with kids, I adapt my basketball lessons by focusing on creating a fun and engaging environment that encourages learning through play. I break down skills into simple, easy-to-understand steps, ensuring that each drill is age-appropriate and designed to build confidence. I use plenty of positive reinforcement to keep them motivated and make sure they understand the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and having fun. Additionally, I incorporate games and friendly competitions to maintain their interest, while still emphasizing the fundamentals of basketball, like dribbling, shooting, and passing. My goal is to make each session enjoyable while helping them develop key skills they can build on as they grow.
Working with teenagersWhen working with teenagers, I adapt my basketball lessons by focusing on both skill development and mental growth. I challenge them with more advanced drills that emphasize technique, agility, and basketball IQ, while also encouraging independence and decision-making on the court. I foster a competitive yet supportive atmosphere, pushing them to reach their potential while emphasizing teamwork and communication. I tailor each session to their specific strengths and areas for improvement, incorporating game-like situations to help them translate practice into real-game scenarios. My goal is to motivate them to take ownership of their development and foster a strong work ethic that extends beyond the basketball court.
