Session 1: Football Fundamentals
The first training session focuses on building a strong foundation by teaching the athlete the basic skills and movements used in football. The session begins with a brief introduction to discuss the athlete’s experience, goals, and desired position, followed by a dynamic warm-up to prepare the body for movement. Instruction then moves into proper athletic stance and footwork, emphasizing balance, body position, and efficient movement. Next, the athlete learns proper catching technique through progressive drills before being introduced to ball security and the “Five Points of Pressure” to protect possession. The session concludes with a fun competitive drill that combines movement, catching, and ball security, followed by a short football IQ lesson covering basic rules, positions, and offensive and defensive concepts. Athletes are encouraged to reinforce these skills at home through daily catching practice, stance work, and watching football to better understand the game. The primary goal of the first session is to develop confidence, establish sound fundamentals, and create excitement for continued improvement.
Lessons 2-3 build on those fundamentals by introducing proper catching technique through progressive drills, along with ball security and the “Five Points of Pressure” to protect possession. These later lessons also combine movement, catching, and ball security in a fun competitive drill while introducing a short football IQ lesson covering basic rules, positions, and offensive and defensive concepts. Athletes are encouraged to reinforce these skills at home through daily catching practice, stance work, and watching football to better understand the game. The primary goal of these first lessons is to develop confidence, establish sound fundamentals, and create excitement for continued improvement
Lessons 4-10 continue building on the athlete’s foundation by moving from basic skill development into more game-like execution and position-specific training. Lesson 4 focuses on route running, body control, and learning how to create separation with sharp breaks, proper pacing, and efficient footwork. Lesson 5 introduces catching on the move and under pressure, helping the athlete track the ball, adjust to different throws, and finish plays confidently. Lesson 6 emphasizes ball security in traffic, change of direction, and open-field movement so the athlete can protect the football while staying explosive. Lesson 7 begins to add position-specific fundamentals based on the athlete’s goals, such as releases, leverage, spacing, or defensive positioning, while Lesson 8 expands football IQ by teaching how to read coverages, understand assignments, and make quicker decisions on the field. Lesson 9 combines all of these skills into competitive, high-repetition drills that challenge the athlete’s reaction time, conditioning, and ability to perform under pressure. Lesson 10 serves as a review and evaluation session, reinforcing the most important techniques, identifying strengths and areas for improvement, and preparing the athlete for the next stage of development. Throughout these lessons, athletes are encouraged to continue practicing at home through catching drills, footwork work, film study, and overall football awareness. The main goal of Lessons 4-10 is to turn foundational skills into confident, consistent, and game-ready performance
Lessons 11+ shift the athlete into more advanced development by focusing on game awareness, position mastery, and consistent execution in competitive situations. These lessons emphasize reading the field faster, reacting to movement and leverage, and making smarter decisions before and after the snap. Depending on the athlete’s position and goals, training may include advanced route concepts, release techniques, coverage recognition, defensive reactions, blocking fundamentals, tackling angles, or more detailed footwork and body control. Lessons 11+ also place a stronger emphasis on situational football, such as third down, red zone, two-minute drills, and other high-pressure moments where focus and discipline matter most. As the athlete progresses, sessions become more challenging and competitive, with drills designed to improve timing, conditioning, communication, and the ability to perform at a higher speed. Film study, football IQ, and leadership habits become increasingly important, helping the athlete understand not just how to play, but why certain decisions and techniques lead to success. The main goal of Lessons 11+ is to refine advanced skills, build confidence in real-game situations, and prepare the athlete to compete with consistency, intelligence, and toughness.
