Lionel brings a wealth of experience as both a former professional football player and a seasoned coach across multiple sports. A standout Defensive Back at Northern Illinois University, he served as Team Co-Captain, earned All-MAC honors, and was awarded MVP at the 2004 Silicon Valley Classic Bowl. Following college, he played as a free agent for the Cleveland Browns and with the Montreal Alouettes. Transitioning to coaching, Lionel spent several years guiding youth athletes as a basketball, track, and junior peewee football coach, and served as a coach for the Georgia Gridiron Classic from 2014-2017. He is passionate about instilling discipline, teamwork, and resilience in young athletes.

Beginner training plan

Your first lesson1. Warm-Up (10 mins): Dynamic stretches, jogging, and high knees. 2. Stance & Starts (20 mins): Proper three-point stance and explosive starts. 3. Ball Handling (15 mins): Basic handoffs and holding the football securely. 4. Cool Down (10 mins): Stretching and a brief overview of football rules and positions.

Lesson 11+1. Warm-Up (10 mins): Jogging, high knees, and stretching. 2. Strength Training (20 mins): Bodyweight exercises (push-ups, planks, squats). 3. Conditioning (20 mins): Sprints, shuttle runs, and endurance drills. 4. Cool Down (10 mins): Final reflections and areas for improvement.

Lesson 4-101. Warm-Up (10 mins): Dynamic stretches and short sprints. 2. Blocking Techniques (20 mins): Learn proper hand placement and foot positioning. 3. 1v1 Blocking (20 mins): Practice blocking a defender in controlled drills. 4. Cool Down (10 mins): Discuss safety and proper form. 5. 10 mins): Agility drills with a football. 6. Handoff Drills (20 mins): Practice proper exchanges between quarterback and running back. 7. Running Lanes (20 mins): Navigate through cones simulating defensive gaps. 8. Cool Down (10 mins): Review concepts of vision and patience. 9. (10 mins): Agility ladder and quick reaction drills. 10. Tackling Form (20 mins): Teach safe tackling: head up, wrap arms, and drive through. 11. Tackling Drills (20 mins): Use tackling dummies to practice form and strength. 12. Cool Down (10 mins): Focus on recovery and injury prevention.

Lesson 2-31. Warm-Up (10 mins): Agility ladder drills. 2. Cone Drills (20 mins): Figure-8 and zig-zag runs to improve footwork. 3. Quickness Drills (15 mins): Reaction sprints and shuttle runs. 4. Cool Down (10 mins): Light jogging and stretches. 5. 10 min Tossing the ball to a partner while jogging. 6. Throwing Mechanics (20 mins): Focus on grip, stance, and release for quarterbacks. 7. Catching Drills (20 mins): Overhand and sideline catches, emphasizing proper hand placement. 8. Cool Down (10 mins): Recap and stretches.
