Beginner training plan
Your first lessonA basic get to know you lesson. We will focus on basic rules, the grip, posture and stance, alignment, and have some fun hitting, chipping and putting to get a feel for your swing
Lesson 11+From here, the basics should be starting to stick. We will work on compressing the golf ball, more advanced putting drills (speed, green reading, short putts, lag putts). Also an introduction to bunker play (if not discussed in lesson 4-10). We will focus on your weaknesses, while also ensuring your strengths stay your strengths.
There will be a deeper dive into the mental side of the game as well from here on out. How to think your way around the course, especially when you don’t have your best stuff!
Lesson 4-10Here we can assess how the first 3 lessons went, then structure a plan for the future. A consistent focus on the basics, and also the mental side of the game. From here we will focus on a lot of drills that are tailored to your swing. The key is consistency here
Lesson 2-3Building off the first lesson, a stronger focus on the fundamentals. We can work on some drills when it comes to grip, tempo, and alignment. Then we can take some full swings
Youth players
Working with kidsI have worked with kids in the past, and have learned that it is improtant to keep the game fun! Learning a new skill can be frustrating, so keeping the drills fun and celebrating all small victories is how I will teach kids. This will be done through games based learning, keeping instruction short and simple, and emphasizing basic motor skills, balance and coordination.
Working with teenagersI will adapt my lessons by teaching course management and emotional control. Golf is a social game, so I will also encourage them to find a group to play with. Lastly I will encourage them to own their own swing. All swings are unique, it is not a one size fits all.
What you need to bringPlease bring your clubs, a few balls, and a positive attitude!
What I can bringI will bring golf balls and tees if you do not have your own. Pleas bring your own clubs.
