Beginner training plan
Your first lesson 1. Warm-up & Stretching (5-10 minutes) • Objective: Loosen up muscles, prevent injury, and get mentally prepared. • Activities: • Dynamic stretches (focus on shoulders, wrists, hips, and legs). • Gentle swings without a ball to loosen up.
Lesson 11+On course training/ golf etiquette Where all your training comes together and practicing real situations and getting creative on how to navigate through the course. Golf etiquette is really important as well. We all want to have fun and be safe while playing. So, this is important so that way we all can enjoy our time and so that we’ll all play our best.
Lesson 4-103. Basic Swing Mechanics (15 minutes) • Objective: Develop a smooth and consistent golf swing. Teaching Points: • Backswing: Focus on the takeaway (smooth, controlled movement). Hands should stay connected to the body. • Downswing: Teach the concept of shifting weight and maintaining balance. • Follow-through: Emphasize finishing the swing fully, with balance. Drills: • Use half-swings to focus on mechanics. • Mirror drills to check positions. Practice: Hit shots focusing on one aspect (e.g., proper weight shift). 4. Short Game (Chipping & Putting) (20 minutes) • Objective: Build confidence around the green. • Chipping: • Grip & Stance: Slightly open stance with weight shifted to the front foot. • Swing: Short backswing, limited wrist action, focus on striking down on the ball. • Drills: Chip to a target, focusing on control and distance. • Putting: • Grip & Stance: Teach the “pendulum” motion with the putter. • Drills: Use distance-control drills (putting to different lengths). Practice: Alternate between chipping and putting to simulate real scenarios.
Lesson 2-32. Grip, Stance, and Posture (10 minutes) • Objective: Ensure the student has a solid foundation before progressing to swing techniques. • Teaching Points: • Grip: Demonstrate the proper grip (neutral, strong, and weak variations). Focus on how the hands should hold the club. • Stance: Teach how feet should be positioned, shoulder-width apart for balance. • Posture: Show proper spine tilt and knee flexion. Ensure they bend from the hips, not the waist. Practice: Have students practice grip, stance, and posture repeatedly with various clubs.
