Scott Matuza is the best golf coach in the whole state of Florida. Scott is the most patient and caring coach around. He has great knowledge of the game of golf and his tour players come out to lessons when in town to practice with his clients as well. It is too bad that he has a former friend Peter Martin Wissel that tries to sabotage his business in putting up false reviews on all of Coach Matuza’s pages on the internet. I highly recommend Scott Matuza Golf Academy over any golf academy in the state of Florida. If you are planning on getting golf lessons go to Scott and please don’t listen or read the bad reviews. Just find out for your self what a great coach and person Scott Matuza truly is.

Scott has a way of bringing a true understanding of the game to anyone, no matter what level player you are. From mechanics to tactics he will take you from average to exceptional, and all the while you will be having a great time playing instead of just being frustrated with your game. Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI like to learn the player as well as their game in the first lesson. Meaning what issues are they having and why. Then making sure they get to know me & my style all in that one lesson. The key in this game is knowing your swing and refining it to make it more consistent.
Lesson 11+I always tell my clients after the 10th lesson I like to do either a 9h or 18h Playing Lesson to see if they can convert what they’re learning on the range to the course with their coach Next to them. This gives me a great way to see what progresses are sticking and what needs to be evaluated going forward. Remember this is a Green to Tee game. We hit shots off the tee to get to our strengths going into the green. That’s how good scores are produced.
Lesson 4-10As we get more into the series of lessons we will have a large grasp on the task at hand meaning we will both know, teacher & client what the main objectives are and how we’re working to achieve them.
Lesson 2-3By the 2-3 lessons were already working on your flaws to make them disappear so you know what’s causing them and how to fix them when coach isn’t around. This game is based on FEEL & always has been a FEEL game so why not play to those best FEELS that produces the best RESULTS.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonFirst we evaluate just like a regular lesson but w/ much more depth to it since they’re already hustling to get better at the competitive levels.
Lesson 11+After your first 10 Lessons, I will want you to play 9h or 18h with me to see progress and where the flaws are so we can make sure you as the player understands what it is your doing to make sure you can correct it right then & there for ultimate successes to come.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 will help you the player understand why your ball, swing and club are doing what they do. This means I may have to add some weight in your club-head if you’re not FEELING the head throughout the swing. Today most of the best players like a heavier head weight so when we’re playing it’s simpler to FEEL the flaws when they occur. Plus it allows your body and club to work together throughout the swing. Creating effortless movements when you stick to your routine.
Lesson 2-3Lessons 2-3 are more around the short game. I want to see your putting drills your using and I might tweak them a little bit if I feel it’s needed to get the ball in hole on an easier but still effective route. Drills will be more detailed + deliberate so when you’re competing it comes more natural.
Youth players
Working with kidsWhen I am working with our future golfers of today I make sure it’s simple & fun with that little kick to it. The Youngsters today need the game of Golf to be Fun all the time because we don’t want them to get frustrated and loose interest. The key for the juniors is to make sure they’re learning the correct approach whether it be the way they grip the club. How it FEELS. What they FEEL when hitting the balls be it on the Driving Range or Putting Green. Always about comfort since the more comfortable they are the more FUN they tend to have.
Working with teenagersTeenagers are at that age when they either just want to learn golf to be good at something when playing with friends, playing in events for employers or they’re looking to take that next step into the college level of competition. Finding out what level the player wants to achieve will decide the approach I will take with all my teenage clientele. Some will be more serious & stricter then others ways we go about approaching the game for them to achieve their goals for the game themselves.
What you need to bringStudents need to bring their patience and have the understanding that this is a Mental Game. Strength doesn’t matter as much as persistence & dedication.
What I can bringI can fit my students when asked since I have a Fitting cart from Wilson Golf I purchased many years ago. I also have different types of sets from many years playing so depends on what my students want to use. I would just need details prior to bring the right equipment to fit each players needs.
