First lessons with me are always fun, first we get to know each other and the genres of music that interest the student. Then we go hands on the guitar and first just practice pressing down and getting a clear tone from the instrument. Then we will go over the parts of the guitar, and the proper way to take care of the instrument, and some tips and tricks for care. Finally we will end by picking a song to begin learning, focusing on reasonable expectations.
As the lessons progress, the song selection will become more advanced, focusing on rhythm and structure. We will begin to explore the theory that makes up the song, and begin to build understanding of scales, and chords.
4th through 10th lessons look similar, depending on the progression range of the student, we will pick more challenging songs to advance their learning and understanding of the instrument, and begin building the confidence to play through the song in completion. We will go through the Minor pentatonic scale, and teach about its basic use in guitar.
Lesson 2 and 3 continue with learning the song, and learning proper practice techniques. Usually this will go section by section in the song. Then we will learn to start reading and writing tab.
