I love playing music, and I love playing music with other people. My goal is to continuously inspire my students, because if you love playing, practicing will never be a chore! My teaching pedagogy is generally a dual approach: it is important to work on the fun things that students want to learn, and it is equally important to spend a little time practicing technical exercises, note reading, and musicianship. I am excited to share my love of music with you, and I look forward to meeting!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFor our first lesson, we will talk about how to hold the guitar and what the different parts of the instrument are. We will also go over a very basic exercise for the left hand as well as the right hand. Then I will show you your first few chords!
Lesson 2-3The second and third lessons start to work on what skills you need to fulfill your goals: Do you want to strum chords around a campfire? Is your goal to eventually learn a James Taylor fingerpicking tune? We will begin working on specific exercises that help you play what you want to.
Lesson 4-10At this point, we will begin actively working on whatever your goal is. Example: If your goal is to play the blues, weeks 2-3 was learning about the blues scale, but now we would move on to really playing the blues! As always, the practice exercises I give you will continue to change and increase in difficulty along with your skill level.
Lesson 11+This is where the magic really happens! At this point we will be learning songs you are interested in, and I will also introduce you to some applied music theory concepts, not just random knowledge or memorization, but with the goal of understanding what you're doing!
What you need to bringYour instrument, your lesson binder (which I provide at our first lesson), and your willingness to try new things!
What I can bringI make sure to have basics, such as a capo, metronome, music stand, as well as an amp and cable for students playing electric guitar.
