About your guitar coach

I currently have a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies and Guitar Performance at Olivet Nazarene University where I studied classical and jazz guitar under Freddie Franken and Joshua Achiron. I am currently pursuing my Master of Music in Jazz Performance at the University of Louisville studying jazz guitar with Craig Wagner. I have extensive knowledge of playing numerous styles of music ranging from jazz, classical, rock and blues, musical theater pit orchestras, chamber music, and worship music. I have played professional gigs in the Chicagoland and Louisville area for a few years and have taught private guitars lessons to students of varying ages.

Your first lessonTalk to the student about the guitar, the different parts of the guitar and what they all do. Teach them a few chords. I want them to walk away from their first lesson with a better understanding of what the guitar is and have them playing something right away.
Lesson 2-3Start to learn a few more chords and talk about strumming patterns. At this point, I want to start assessing the student’s goals and start curating the lessons to help them achieve these goals.
