About your guitar coach

Music has been an essential element of my life, and for 25 years, I've been sharing that passion as a professional guitarist and dedicated instructor. I specialize in catering to whatever your curiosities are with the instrument and am fluent in a number of musical expressions on the guitar, be it Afrobeat, Rock, European Classical or American Jazz and R and B. I can also read and write in standard music notation, though this is not a requirement to begin lessons! I have played and worked with a number of world renowned Bay Area talents such as Grammy award winner Fantastic Negrito, The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and The San Francisco Philharmonic Orchestra, My goal is to provide you with the technical foundation and creative freedom to express yourself through guitar, no matter your current skill level. Let's get started!

Your first lessonStudents will learn the parts the guitar, the music alphabet, an easy way to remember names of strings, and will walk away playing a song!
Lesson 11+From here I like to let the student lead where they’d like to go with their guitar lessons. We can continue expanding knowledge of guitar through learning different styles/genres or we can get as specific as they like with their own personal favorite tunes.
Lesson 4-10Continuing learning songs using new chords and scales learned.
Lesson 2-3Second and third lessons will consist of more songs, introduction of scales and first position chords.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonWe will set up what specific concepts of the guitar you’re working on or you’d like to know more about. That could be improving improvisation, learning the neck and fretboard, getting better at rhythm playing, building song repertoire , mastering a Bach piece, trying to nail intertwined Afrobeat guitar lines or wherever you may be.
Youth players
Working with teenagersI would want to have a conversation first with the teen’s parent or guardian to see if there’s anything I need to know to make their learning experience the best it can be. To mention, I do have experience teaching working with neurodivergent youth. I also like to cater lessons to the musical interest of teenagers, often relating what songs or styles they are currently attracted to with deeper musical concepts and history.

If you need to cancel your lesson, no worries! You can get a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of making your booking. We want to make the process as hassle-free as possible for you.

And if you simply want to reschedule your lesson, change the date and time, or adjust the number of students joining, we've got you covered there too. You can easily make these changes within 24 hours of booking, and up to 72 hours before your lesson starts.

Best guitar teacher and best guitar player in the world!! Josh is skilled, professional and teaches guitar with intent and the utmost care. Any question you may have about guitar and/or music, this guy will definitely have an answer for.
