It is my absolute pleasure to write this personal reference letter in support of Tommy Caradonna, an incredible professional bass guitarist and an exceptional music educator. For most of my life, I have been inspired by Tommy’s musical career recording, performing, and touring with artists, Alice Cooper, Lita Ford, White Lion, and now Angel. Over the past several years, I have had the distinct honor of getting to know him personally and recently began working with him in various capacities—both as a fellow musician and as an appreciative student of his teaching methods. I am confident that Tommy stands out as an effective teacher whose passion, skill, and dedication leave a lasting impact on students and the wider musical community.
From the very beginning, Tommy impressed me with his outstanding command of the bass guitar. Tommy possesses not only the skill to perform at a professional level but also has a rare ability to analyze and deconstruct complex pieces, making them accessible to students of any skill level.
A hallmark of Tommy’s teaching is his personalized approach. He took the time to understand, as a student, my musical tastes, ambitions, and unique learning style. His lessons have been prepared to balance both technical exercises with assignments geared towards my creative exploration. Whether the focus is on my fingerstyle techniques or breaking down complex musical concepts into understandable steps, Tommy brings patience and clarity to every session. He sets clear and attainable goals, providing me the constructive feedback that is both insightful and encouraging, while being willing to revisit challenging material until I feel comfortable and confident.
Integrity, positivity, enthusiasm, and empathy are qualities that define Tommy’s character. He exudes a genuine love for music and education into his every interaction. Tommy is quick to celebrate the achievements of others and offers unwavering support during moments of difficulty both professionally and personally.
I wholeheartedly believe that anyone would be fortunate to study under the guidance of Tommy Caradonna. His musicianship, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to student growth sets him apart as an outstanding mentor, providing everyone he teaches with inspiration and a solid foundation on which to grow.
Sincerely,
George (Terry) F.

Taking lessons from Tommy has been great. He explains everything in a way I understand and lets me get better at my own pace.
Great!

Erin O.
Level: Beginner•Lessons taken: 7
My daughter Erin has been a guitar student of Tommy’s for the last three months. The first few lessons I sat in with them on her lessons because of her shyness. She’s slowly coming out of her shell, working hard at getting better and I enjoy seeing that.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonMy first lesson usually consists of getting the student acquainted with the instrument. Introducing them to all aspects of the instrument so we have an understanding of the instrument and this endeavor they are choosing.
Next I start them of on warm ups to get their hands moving and to become familiar with the fret board. As they advance I’ll incorporate a metronome.
Also very important to have a conversation with the student to know what they want to learn and their expectations.
Lesson 11+Songs!!! The reason we play. And I start with something remedial and something that I feel they can comprehend and accomplish a performance.
Important for them to learn songs they want to learn.
Lesson 4-10We will start incorporating some simple scales Major and Minor
Lesson 2-3Starting them with open Chords and knowing the difference between major and minor.
Learning the notes and where they are on the fret board.
Youth players
Working with kidsI have experience teaching kids. I believe in making it fun and getting them to play the songs they want to play from the artists they like.
Working with teenagersTeenagers are focused on what they want and again they have to keep their interest engaged. When they see improvement in them selves and their own playing I believe it is very beneficial to their development as musicians and people.
