Beginner training plan
Your first trainingYour first mental performance session is all about building a foundation. The goal isn’t to β€œfix” anythingβ€”it’s to understand how your mind currently operates so we can develop the skills that help you perform at your best consistently. During our first lesson, we’ll discuss: * Your goals: What you want to achieve, whether it’s improving confidence, managing pressure, increasing focus, or performing more consistently. * Your performance history: We’ll explore what’s working well, what challenges you’ve experienced, and the situations where you perform at your best or struggle the most. * How the mind affects performance: I’ll introduce the mental skills that influence success, such as attention control, confidence, emotional regulation, self-talk, motivation, and resilience. * Your mental performance assessment: Together, we’ll identify your current strengths and areas for growth to create a personalized training plan. * An introduction to mental skills training: You’ll learn that mental performance is a trainable skill, just like strength, speed, or technique. These skills improve with consistent practice. * Your first practical exercise: Before our next session, you’ll receive a simple exerciseβ€”such as a focus drill, breathing technique, performance journal, or self-awareness activityβ€”to begin building your mental skills immediately. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clear understanding of where you are, where you’re headed, and the specific mental skills we’ll develop together. You’ll leave with practical tools you can begin using right away, along with a customized roadmap designed to help you perform with greater confidence, focus, and consistency.
Training 2-3What to Expect: Lessons 2–3 After establishing a foundation in our first session, we’ll begin developing the core mental skills that support consistent high performance. These sessions are interactive and focused on practical strategies you can use immediately. Lesson 2: Building Awareness and Focus In this session, you’ll learn how to recognize the thoughts, emotions, and physical reactions that influence your performance. Rather than trying to eliminate distractions or nervousness, you’ll develop the ability to notice them without allowing them to control your actions. We’ll cover: * How attention works and why focus naturally shifts. * The difference between controllable and uncontrollable factors. * Identifying common distractions and performance obstacles. * Techniques for returning your attention to the present moment. * A simple daily focus exercise to strengthen concentration. By the end of this lesson, you’ll understand how to regain focus quickly and direct your energy toward what matters most. Lesson 3: Confidence and Self-Talk Confidence isn’t something you’re born withβ€”it’s a skill that can be developed. In this session, you’ll learn how your internal dialogue influences your performance and how to replace unhelpful thoughts with productive ones. We’ll cover: * Where confidence comes from. * Recognizing negative or limiting self-talk. * Building a constructive internal dialogue. * Using evidence from past successes to strengthen belief in your abilities. * Developing a pre-performance confidence routine. You’ll also begin creating personalized mental routines that prepare you to perform with greater consistency, regardless of pressure or circumstances. Between Sessions Each lesson includes simple exercises that take just a few minutes each day. These activities help turn mental skills into habits, making them easier to access during competition, performances, presentations, or other high-pressure situations. By the end of the third lesson, you’ll have a solid understanding of how to manage your attention, build confidence, and begin creating the mental habits that support long-term success. From there, we’ll continue expanding your skills with topics such as emotional regulation, resilience, visualization, goal setting, and performing under pressure.
Training 4-10Mental Performance Training: Lessons 4–10 By this point, you’ll have established a foundation of self-awareness, focus, and confidence. The next lessons build on those skills, helping you perform consistently under pressure and develop lasting mental habits. Lesson 4: Emotional Regulation Under Pressure Pressure, frustration, and anxiety are natural parts of performing. This session teaches you how to manage your emotions without letting them dictate your performance. You’ll learn: * How emotions affect decision-making and performance. * Techniques to regulate stress and anxiety. * Breathing and grounding exercises for staying composed. * How to quickly recover after mistakes or setbacks. Practice: Develop a personalized reset routine for high-pressure situations. βΈ» Lesson 5: Goal Setting and Motivation Success comes from having clear direction and consistent motivation. This lesson helps you create meaningful goals while staying committed to the process. You’ll learn: * The difference between outcome, performance, and process goals. * How to set realistic, measurable objectives. * Strategies for maintaining motivation during challenges. * How to build productive daily habits. Practice: Create a personalized goal and accountability plan. βΈ» Lesson 6: Visualization and Mental Rehearsal Your brain responds to vivid mental practice in many of the same ways it responds to physical practice. Learning to visualize effectively can improve confidence, decision-making, and execution. You’ll learn: * The science behind visualization. * How to mentally rehearse successful performances. * Multi-sensory imagery techniques. * Using visualization before competition or important events. Practice: Build a personalized visualization routine. βΈ» Lesson 7: Building Resilience Every high performer experiences setbacks. The difference is how they respond. You’ll learn: * Developing a growth mindset. * Reframing mistakes as learning opportunities. * Recovering quickly from disappointment. * Building persistence and mental toughness. Practice: Develop a resilience plan for handling adversity. βΈ» Lesson 8: Creating High-Performance Routines Consistency comes from preparation. This session focuses on building routines that help you perform your best regardless of the environment. You’ll learn: * Pre-performance routines. * During-performance focus strategies. * Post-performance recovery and reflection. * Building habits that support long-term improvement. Practice: Design your complete performance routine. βΈ» Lesson 9: Performing Under Pressure Now you’ll learn how to apply everything you’ve practiced when the stakes are highest. You’ll learn: * Why people β€œchoke” under pressure. * Techniques for staying composed during critical moments. * Managing expectations and external distractions. * Trusting your preparation instead of forcing performance. Practice: Pressure simulations and mental rehearsal. βΈ» Lesson 10: Integration and Long-Term Success The final session brings together everything you’ve learned into a personalized mental performance system. We’ll review: * Your progress and growth since Lesson 1. * Mental skills that have become strengths. * Areas to continue developing. * Strategies for maintaining long-term improvement. * Creating an ongoing mental training plan. You’ll leave with: * A personalized mental performance toolkit. * Daily, weekly, and pre-performance routines. * A clear plan for continued growth. * The confidence to independently apply your mental skills in competition, work, school, or other high-pressure environments. The Outcome By the end of the ten-session program, you’ll have developed practical skills to: * Stay focused under pressure. * Build lasting confidence. * Manage stress and emotions effectively. * Recover quickly from mistakes. * Develop resilient thinking. * Create productive routines. * Perform more consistently. * Continue strengthening your mental performance long after the program ends. Mental performance is not about eliminating pressureβ€”it’s about learning to perform effectively despite it. These lessons provide the tools and habits to help you thrive in challenging situations, both in performance and in everyday life.
Training 11+Lesson 11: Performance Review and Refinement By Lesson 11, you’ve built a solid foundation of mental performance skills. This session is designed to evaluate your progress, reinforce what’s working, and fine-tune the areas that will help you continue improving. During this session, we will: * Review your recent performances and experiences. * Identify patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors during high-pressure situations. * Evaluate how effectively you’re using the mental skills you’ve learned. * Refine your pre-performance, in-performance, and post-performance routines. * Address any new challenges or obstacles that have emerged. * Set the next phase of short-term and long-term performance goals. Practice Assignment: You’ll leave with a personalized action plan based on your current performance needs, along with targeted exercises designed to strengthen your mental game before the next session. Goal of Lesson 11: Transition from learning mental performance skills to consistently applying and refining them in real-world situations. This marks the beginning of a more individualized coaching approach tailored to your unique goals, environment, and performance demands.

Advanced training plan
Your first trainingAdvanced Mental Performance Program – Lesson 1: Performance Assessment The first session is designed to identify the mental factors that are limiting or enhancing your performance. This session is designed to strengthen your confidence while improving your ability to focus under demanding conditions. During this session, we will: * Refine your pre-performance mental routine to maximize readiness. * Strengthen confidence by identifying and reinforcing evidence-based beliefs in your abilities. * Eliminate performance-disrupting self-talk and replace it with productive mental cues. * Improve attentional control by learning how to shift your focus quickly when distractions arise. * Develop strategies to recover immediately after mistakes without allowing one play, performance, or decision to affect the next. Outcome By the end of the session, you’ll have a refined confidence routine, a stronger competitive mindset, and a personalized focus strategy that allows you to perform with consistency, regardless of the environment or pressure.
Training 4-10Advanced Mental Performance Program – Lessons 4–10 Beginning with Lesson 4, the program becomes highly individualized based on your performance goals, competitive environment, and the mental skills identified during the initial assessment. Rather than following a rigid curriculum, each session is tailored to address the specific challenges that have the greatest impact on your performance. Areas of focus may include: * Advanced confidence development and maintaining confidence during slumps. * Performing consistently under pressure and in high-stakes situations. * Building resilience and responding effectively to adversity and setbacks. * Enhancing emotional regulation during competition. * Advanced visualization and mental rehearsal techniques. * Strengthening attentional control and decision-making under pressure. * Refining pre-performance, in-performance, and post-performance routines. * Leadership, communication, and team dynamics. * Managing expectations, perfectionism, and fear of failure. * Preparing for major competitions, tryouts, championships, or career transitions. Goal The objective of Lessons 4–10 is to refine and strengthen the mental skills that allow you to perform at your highest level consistently. Coaching becomes increasingly collaborative, focusing on real-time application, continuous improvement, and developing the ability to independently manage the mental demands of competition and high performance.
Training 11+Advanced Mental Performance Program – Lesson 11 and Ongoing Coaching By Lesson 11, the focus shifts from structured skill development to ongoing performance optimization. At this stage, coaching is driven by your current goals, upcoming competitions, recent performances, and the mental challenges you’re experiencing. Each session is individualized and may include: * Reviewing recent performances to identify strengths and opportunities for growth. * Refining mental strategies based on real competition experiences. * Preparing for upcoming high-pressure events, tournaments, or key performances. * Addressing confidence, focus, motivation, emotional regulation, or performance consistency as needed. * Managing slumps, setbacks, injuries, or transitions. * Strengthening leadership, communication, and team dynamics when applicable. * Continuing to develop advanced routines that support peak performance. * Holding you accountable to your mental training plan and long-term goals. Coaching Approach These sessions are designed to evolve with your performance. As new challenges arise, your mental performance strategies are refined to ensure you’re prepared to perform at your highest level in any situation. Long-Term Goal The ultimate objective is to help you become mentally self-sufficientβ€”able to recognize challenges, adjust your mindset in real time, recover quickly from adversity, and consistently perform with confidence, focus, and resilience. Ongoing coaching serves as a resource for continued growth, accountability, and maintaining a competitive mental edge throughout your career.

Youth players
Working with kids Mental performance training for young athletes focuses on building confidence, improving focus, developing resilience, and learning how to handle the emotions that come with competition. Rather than simply teaching techniques, each session is designed to help athletes better understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence their performance. The program is engaging, age-appropriate, and interactive. Through games, discussions, practical exercises, and real-life examples, athletes learn skills they can immediately apply in practices, competitions, school, and everyday life. As they progress, they develop greater self-awareness, emotional control, and the confidence to perform at their best while continuing to enjoy the sport they love.
