Beginner training plan
Your first lessonEvaluate the student’s current proficiency in music, musicianship, and Piano technique.. Provide instruction on proper technique and demonstrate its application to enhance the student’s learning experience. My teaching approach involves introducing two-octave scales and with each handle separate as a way to start, and basic triad and inversions. I usually teach beginning sight reading and assign a simple song as homework.
Lesson 11+At this point the student will see dramatic improvement in their understanding and technique and I will present more difficult songs and set new goals together.
Lesson 4-10We continue to develop musicianship and fundamental understanding from the preceding lessons. As their playing and dexterity improve, I progressively delve deeper, introducing more intricate rhythms, patterns, chords, and scales and harder songs.
Lesson 2-3We continue to build on sightreading in both clefs and basic musicianship skills like scales, triads and dexterity/coordination.
I explain rhythms ans the begin to develop their technique, dexterity, and establish the groundwork for learning more.i

We set goals with songs to work through, and I begin to explain my technique more deeply.
Lesson 11+We lock in the concepts from our earlier lessons. They will see massive technical improvements. We keep working through their songs and solidifying their artistic vision. We continue to stretch their boundaries and incorporate other musical styles/rhythms and techniques in a comprehensive and practical way.
Lesson 4-10We lock in the concepts from our earlier lessons and see their technique and musicianship in general improve. We work through their songs, solidifying their artistic vision, and begin to work on stretching their boundaries, incorporating other musical styles/rhythms and techniques in a comprehensive manner.

Working with kidsI love working with kids and my lessons focus more on them finding music and playing songs they love Technique will be incorporated over the course of time. Lessons should be fun, so they remain interested.
Working with teenagersI tailor my teaching to suit students’ abilities, introducing advanced techniques as they progress. I make lessons fun, boosting their confidence and respect. For those with artistic aspirations, I help them define their identity, provide performance coaching, and even teach songwriting.
