Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn the first lesson, I get to know the student’s goals and experience, introduce basic piano technique, and help them feel comfortable at the keyboard. Beginners will learn proper hand position, keyboard geography, and play simple musical patterns right away.
Lesson 2-3Students begin reading simple notes and rhythms, develop healthy playing habits, and learn easy songs while building confidence and musical understanding. Practice routines are introduced to encourage steady progress.
Lesson 4-10By this stage, students are usually able to read basic music, play several pieces with confidence, and enjoy making music independently. Each lesson is personalized to make learning fun, engaging, and rewarding.
Lesson 11+As students progress, lessons become increasingly personalized. They will continue developing technique, music reading, and expressive playing while exploring music they enjoy. My goal is to help each student become a confident, independent musician and foster a lifelong love of music.
What you need to bringA piano or keyboard, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Beginners are welcome, and I will recommend appropriate books and materials after the first lesson.

If you need to cancel your lesson, no worries! You can get a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of making your booking. We want to make the process as hassle-free as possible for you.

And if you simply want to reschedule your lesson, change the date and time, or adjust the number of students joining, we've got you covered there too. You can easily make these changes within 24 hours of booking, and up to 72 hours before your lesson starts.

Dr. Tian Wei is a classically trained pianist and experienced piano instructor based in Northern Virginia. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from The Catholic University of America and has taught students of all ages and levels. As a soloist, she has performed at prestigious venues across the United States and China, including the Kennedy Center and embassies throughout Washington, D.C.
