Emily is an engaging and enthusiastic coach. She will always give positive feedback before correcting your form and does a good job at knowing when to either make a drill easier or more difficult depending on the student. She breaks everything off into bite size chunks so it never feels overwhelming to learn different aspects of the game.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson I typically treat as a pickleball 101 lesson. I lay the foundational knowledge of the court and the rules so we can build upon that later on. I usually go over the non volley zone area and have a fun drill/contest to get used to dinking. I also go through serving and keeping score so players can understand the flow of the game. Typically I’ll have players play a short game at the end to put it all together and explain what other aspects of the game we’ll address moving forward.
Lesson 11+Here we start to pull it all together! We’ll get to put your new skills to the test by weaving together all the technical and tactical skills we learned. We can also go over more advanced shots and overall performance so you can be your most confident self on the court.
Lesson 4-10The following lessons will incorporate shot accuracy and key strategies for singles/doubles play. Here we will build confidence by doing non volley zone, serving, returning and transition zone drills.
Lesson 2-3The following lessons will build upon what we learned in the first. Depending on player needs, we’ll go over the technical aspects of the game - proper stances, grip, footwork, positioning, etc. It’s important to get these right so once we get more advanced, there’s a proper foundation.
Youth players
Working with kidsWhen it comes to kids, I always focus on having a fun yet competitive atmosphere where everyone gets to play and have fun! I keep them engaged during drills by always having fun contests throughout and can gently correct any errors I see during this time. I always want everyone to have fun and learn a little along the way!
Working with teenagersWorking is teenagers is something I enjoy as they are eager to learn and have tons of energy. Similar to younger kids, I focus on keeping them engaged through a fun, light hearted competitive spirit. I incorporate contests throughout the lessons and ensure I show them what I’m looking for instead of telling them.
