About your pickleball coach

I am a former D1 College Tennis player and have been playing pickleball at a high level for several years. I am an RPO and Picklr certified coach. I’ve been teaching at The Picklr since 2025 where I give private lessons and group clinics. I combine technical knowledge, tactical insight, and patient instruction to elevate skills and enjoyment for players at all levels. I will help develop your dinks, drives, volleys, serves, returns and resets while emphasizing when to use each shot during a game

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI explain the court layout, rules and scoring. Next I explain how to hold/grip the paddle and describe what happens when the paddle hits the ball. I’ll start at the Non-Volley zone with forehand and backhand dinks. Depending how fast the student grasps this shot, I will introduce the volley and the serve. My goal is to enable a student to play a real game after one lesson.
Lesson 2-3I will reinforce the dink shot, volley and serve. I teach several dinking drills and games to reinforce proper techniques. I also start teaching proper footwork. I will introduce the drop shot, forehand and backhand drives, and return of serve. Students will be able to play confidently after Lesson 3.
Lesson 4-10I will continue teaching the proper techniques for all of the various shots and introduce game play strategy and court positioning. I incorporate games like playing skinny singles to reinforce concepts and to help the student identify which shot to hit in a particular situation. I will focus on where a student should hit a shot in a given scenario. Depending on the student’s ability to master the proper shot technique, I will introduce skills such as resets from the transition zone. reset volleys, block volleys, roll volleys, and speed up shots. I’ll also introduce lobs and overhead shots.
Lesson 11+I will continue working to improve the student’s ability to use correct techniques, shot selection in a particular situation, shot placement, court positioning, footwork and game play strategy. I’ll work with the student on more advanced shots like resets and roll/flick volleys while using fun drills and games to work on having them serve and move to the NVZ by hitting drives, drops and resets. I’ll reinforce game play strategies and focus on the correct shot to hit in a specific situation.
Youth players
Working with kidsI incorporate age relevant games to encourage quick successes. Kids need to have fun while learning the game.
Working with teenagersI have different games I use when working with teens. I use positive reinforcement and short, structured drills to help them improve.
