Beginner training plan
Your first lessonLearn the rules if you don’t know them already. Practice forehand and backhand shots. Practice dinking. Practice serving and returning shots. Basic footwork. Practice games if enough players are available.
Lesson 11+All of the above plus understanding advanced strategies. Improving all the skills practiced. Practice games if enough players are available.
Lesson 4-10Picking up speed. How to hit harder with topspin. What to do when you play against an aggressive opponent. How to lob the ball. How to hit a backhand or forehand slice. Work on skills that student needs improvement. Practice games if enough players are available.
Lesson 2-3Beginner strategy session: Learn where to hit the ball based on player location. How to control the kitchen and begin to work on ball placement for success. Advanced footwork. Practice games if enough players are available.
Youth players
Working with kidsIt’s all about having fun! Every kid is different and learn in different ways. First steps is just getting them to hit the ball and getting the ball over the net. Building on those skills while having fun along the way.
Working with teenagersTeens need encouragement and some fun along the way to learn successfully. Starting with basics like hitting balls and learning the rules and building confidence. Teens are able to learn quickly and become very good players in a short amount of time.
