Our first lesson will start with a skills assessment, where I evaluate your pickleball game and mechanics. From there, we will practice fundamental pickleball techniques and mechanics tailored to your individual needs. These techniques include catch and release drills, mobility and footwork exercises, and body mechanics analyses.
Any further lessons will be geared towards refining your pickleball skills to play at an intermediate level and beyond! This includes learning the third shot drop, basic strategy tips, on-court positioning, and simple pattern recognition.
Lessons 4 - 10 will emphasize applying the techniques we’ve practiced to a game scenario. We will work on developing consistency and maintaining longer rallies in a pickleball game, as well as including the proper context for why we do what we do in a game scenario.
Our second and third lessons will focus on continuing to practice the key areas of improvement we previously identified. We’ll make any additional adjustments as needed, whether that be including any additional drills or exercises or modifying existing ones.
Our first lesson together will begin with a discussion of specific areas of your game that you’d like to improve or are struggling to develop. Some common areas students want to improve in are their third shot drops, transition zone shots, and dinks. We’ll play a couple of points to view the weak points in context and then we’ll implement drills to improve the needed areas for development, as well as identify the root causes for the errors.
The following lessons will be focused on point construction, shot selection, and consistency in technique. You’ll learn what decisions to make on the court and when, why those decisions are the best options, what pickleball shots will help you win points, and what body mechanics will help you achieve the best techniques.
Lessons 4 - 10 will be geared towards identifying other areas of improvement and repeating the same drilling-application cycle as the first three lessons.
In our second and third lessons, we’ll continue to work on your key areas of improvement from the first lesson via tailored drills and work towards implementing them into a game scenario. We’ll discuss what the proper decisions and techniques are to set yourself up for improvement
