About your pickleball coach

I'm thrilled to share my passion for pickleball with you. I am an adult educator with 35 years of experience and have discovered the magic of pickleball and fallen deeply in love with this fantastic sport. Currently a proud member of the Calgary Pickleball Club, you can find me regularly at the Calgary Pickleball Center, outdoor courts and at MRU, honing my skills and spreading the joy of the game. I recently completed my Level 3 Training with Calgary Pickleball Club. Last April my partner and I won the gold medal at local WRCA Tournament in Ladies Doubles in our bracket and this spring we took the silver medal in our bracket at the CPC Summer Tournament. In 2025 I completed my International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) Level 1 certification and now also coach with Calgary Pickleball Club as well. This past winter I coached two 55+ Community Pickleball programs (Beginners and Intermediate) at Cardel Rec South. If you want to learn pickleball's basic rules, foundational techniques, and some of the main strokes, I'm here to guide you and get you started. Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI will meet you wherever you are in terms of your exposure to the game and sports in general. We will focus on grip, basic court positioning and dinking in the first lesson.
Lesson 2-3Lessons two to three will typically include more practice with dinking, cross court dinking, and depending on your level service and service return. General introduction of some of the key rules.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4 to 10 will progress as you do with your skill level. We will focus on more dinking, ground strokes, service and service return as well as third shot drops and lobs. Key elements will include control, consistency, and placement over power as a solid foundation in pickleball. Partner strategies and lots of drilling will be incorporated as well.
Lesson 11+I will help you to continue to refine all of your keystrokes as well as increasing your consistency and athleticism on the court. More intermediate level positioning, strategies will be introduced as well.
Youth players
Working with teenagersI have some experience coaching youth at YYC Pickleball-All s Sports Day and the Salvation Army Resource Center after school program. The key elements include having a lot of fun, making contact with the ball and increasing confidence and overall skill level and basic strategies on the court. I like to stress cooperative drills and activities with youth to make sure they get maximum and contact with the ball and others.
What you need to bringBring a pickleball paddle if you have one and if you don't let me know and I can supply one for the lesson. I have 4 extra paddles in case you have a group lesson. Wear running shoes and appropriate athletic clothing.
What I can bringPlease try to come with your own pickleball paddle. I do have 4 extra ones that I can loan out if you do not have one. I will bring the balls and net for our lessons.

I had a pretty good experience with Sheri’s pickleball lesson, and she was quite helpful and accommodating throughout. The lesson was enjoyable, especially since she made learning feel natural rather than overly technical.
