Pickleball Coordinator and Joola Sponsored Coach at Lifetime Fitness Overland Park. I have been coaching for a year and playing for a few years. Before pickleball, I was a coach and mentor in the corporate world. I have always had a passion for mentoring others, now I do that with my other passion .. PICKLEBALL! It's easy to get started playing pickleball, but whether you're a beginner or intermediate player, there are some shot mechanics and game strategies that aren't intuitive. When you have a coach, you can learn these aspects of the game a lot sooner than you would otherwise. Let's play!!

My first pickleball lesson was a positive and encouraging experience. While I'm far from proficient, the lesson provided a solid foundation and sparked my interest in the sport even more. The instructor's patience, clear explanations, and engaging teaching style were perfect for a beginner like me. I left the court feeling excited about pickleball and eager to continue learning and improving.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe'll start with some basics. -How you hold your paddle -Shot mechanics -Your serve -Approaching shots You'll hit serves, returns, and we'll play out some points. This will give us a great starting point and you'll leave the first lesson with an improved serve and shot mechanics for a variety of shots you can use in your upcoming open plays! Feel free to bring up anything in particular you would like to work on with me. I can incorporate that into our first lesson.
Lesson 11+We can look back at your progress and celebrate! I'm plugged in to the pickleball community in the KC area, which is good, because you'll be hungry for new competition!
Lesson 4-10By now you're feeling much more confident because we will be able to objectively review your progress utilizing your player journal. Your serve will be getting faster, and we will be working on court positioning and strategy as well as developing your individual play style. This is where it really starts getting exciting!! As a coach, this is a fun place for me, too because it's super rewarding to see where just a few good lessons can get you. You'll be building confidence with proof that your game is leveling up, and with new good habits forming, you're feeling and becoming more competitive.
Lesson 2-3You'll receive a binder with USAP Player Rating Guides for a variety of skill levels and your player journal. We'll review this after each lesson. I'll share YouTube videos/pro matches to watch that include shots we're currently working on so you can watch good examples. You can also use my tripod and video your shot with your phone so you can compare to pros or matches you record and watch your shots improve.

Youth players
Working with kidsI have a 6yo son. I coach his baseball team, and of course his pickleball playing! PPA (Professional Pickleball Association) tournaments start at 8years old!

Working with teenagersI currently coach top rated teens in the area. I'm happy to get groups together to practice!

What you need to bringYourself, athletic shoes, and your paddle. (If you don't have one yet, I have extras!)

What I can bring I have paddles, balls, courts, and any other training items we'll need. If you're new and not sure what paddle to buy, I even have a variety of paddles that range in type, composition and price to give you a feel for what you may want to buy.
