Steve is extremely knowledgeable and a great coach. He is consistent with his instruction, but supportive if you get frustrated with yourself. I’ve improved dramatically under his instruction and have become addicted. Steve makes pickleball fun!

Beginner training plan
Your first lesson(Prior to the lesson: Decide on a place and time. This can be any suitable and agreed upon place to play. Indoor and outdoor are both options.) A first lesson is largely dependent on the student. Everyone is different, and the lesson is largely tailored to help the individual or group. Average lessons start with introductions and an assessment of the student's skill set and understanding of the game. From there, I give recommendations on what aspects of your game can be improved to make the biggest difference for the individual. If you are still a novice at the sport, usually the focus is on fundamentals(serves, returns, positions, etc). If you have a good grasp of the fundamentals, I usually recommend working on slightly more advanced techniques.
Lesson 4-10Usually, by lesson 4-10, (if the player is practicing their skills in recreational play as well) players should be proficient in most of the basics and be able to participate in sessions that require more strategy and control.
Lesson 2-3Progressive lessons are tailored to the needs of each individual. While I'm happy to provide guidance in what a student would benefit from, I am perfectly fine with adjusting the sessions to the wants and needs of the student. It is your lesson, after all.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonAdvanced lessons are for players who have a firm grasp of all the fundamentals and are looking to improve a designated skill within the game. The first lesson would include and introduction between coach and student, assessment of current skill level, and tailored instruction to help elevate the student's game. This is typically done by either drilling a new skill or practicing in a way that promotes advantage over opponents while playing to the student's strengths as a player.
Lesson 2-3Subsequent lessons for advanced players are aimed at strategies and skills based on the player's desires. As a coach, I always allow input from students while giving them feedback about ways they can improve overall.

Youth players
Working with kidsPatience is key. Depending on age, some kids pick up the sport and can progress like any other player. It does usually take slightly longer for kids to develop proper technique and consistency. That being said, it improves hand-eye coordination, control, and is a great form of exercise with relatively low risk of injury when compared to other contact sports.

Working with teenagersTeenagers typically have good coordination and pick up the sport quickly. Lessons are usually tailored to understanding the importance of control and strategy.

What you need to bringI recommend you bring water, eye protection, and court shoes. Closed-toed shoes are required. Please keep in mind, wearing running shoes and playing without eye protection leaves students at a higher tendency for injury. If you play without court shoes or eye protection it is at your own risk.

What I can bringI can provide paddles, balls, and even a net if the location chosen to play is not a permanent court. There is no charge for those resources.
