I begin by understanding your experience level and goals and objectives related to pickleball. We focus on the fundamentals (grip, stance, contact point, positioning) and learn about proper technique for dinking, serving and returning, so you can begin playing from the 1st lesson.
Learn how to hit spin shots and how to return them. We also learn how to handle circumstances when you or your partner is getting targeted (or picked on) during play and how to mitigate that. Mostly we play many games and drills to improve confidence and build muscle memory and consistency.
We are working on improving forehand and backhand drives/returns. Learning how to execute drops (3rd Shot drops in particular), court positiLobs. In different situations, over-head smashes and lobs and defending those shots. Most importantly we play a lot of games and have fun.
We build off the basics and move on to cross-court dinking, speed-up's, volleying at the Non-Volley Line (kitchen), blocking, and scoring. We also review serving and ways to increase consistency and power.
We focus on the key areas of opportunity based on an evaluation of their play and what their goals are. We tailor their sessions based on that - focusing on drills and game play that supports those goals.
We continue to drill and gain muscle memory and confidence to improve overall level of play.
We focus on taking advantage of you and your partner's strengths by utilizing "stacking" and court switching techniques. We also introduce other players to the lessons to gain experience with playing with left-handed and right-handed partners and learn how to put them in the best position to excel.
We look at advanced court positioning and strategies to minimize unforced errors and score more points.
