Beginner training plan
Your first lessonEvaluate the student’s current proficiency in music and musicianship. Provide instruction on vocal technique, emphasizing the utilization of this knowledge to enhance resonance and accuracy. Establish both short-term and long-term objectives and introduce the concept of “discovering their unique vocal style.”
Lesson 11+The student will now have a much deeper understanding of music and singing. They will have more power, added range, and we can begin to work on more difficult songs and help them expand their new vocal personality.
Lesson 4-10We continue to reinforce the technique and concepts I have introduced in earlier lessons. Students will see musical growth and we will begin to work on harder songs.
Lesson 2-3We continue to build on the students’ understanding of vocal placement and registers and begin to work through songs of their choosing.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonReview the basics and basic understanding of vocal placement and its application for better pitch and accuracy. Gauge their current vocal ability and what they think they need to work on & set goals for how to achieve their ideal sound stylistically and artistically.
Lesson 11+As the students technique and confidence grows the student will undoubtedly have more difficult songs and challenges to work through. Our technical exercises will adjust to match the students advancements
Lesson 4-10We build on each lesson, the student will begin to see results. This will make them more confident and we will begin to tackle more difficult music and techniques.
Lesson 2-3Each lesson will include technique and placement to maintain good vocal health including exercises, professional tips to avoid hoarseness or voice loss. After the warmups are done we focus on the material the student wants to sing.
Youth players
Working with kidsI love working with kids and my lessons focus more on them finding music and songs they love to sing and less on technique. Technique will be incorporated over the course of time. Lessons should be fun, so they remain interested.
Working with teenagersI adjust my teaching based on the current ability level. I begin to teach more advanced techniques of the music they would like to sing, stylistically and to maintain their vocal health. I still try to make the lessons fun and help them build their confidence. If they have artistic goals, I help them define and build their identity as a singer and performer, and give them advice. I help them learn or refine songwriting. For those who are interested in music as a hobby, we get them singing to impress their friends and family.
