I start by getting to know the player and making them feel comfortable. We do a short, low-pressure assessment so I can see their current level with the ball. Then we focus on basic ball mastery β simple touches, comfort on both feet, and building confidence. The goal of the first lesson is for the player to leave feeling successful and excited to come back.
We build on the basics from the first session. Players work on cleaner first touches, controlled dribbling, and simple passing. I introduce light challenges so they start using both feet more naturally. Sessions stay positive and structured, with clear feedback so the player understands exactly what theyβre improving.
At this stage we develop consistency and add more game-related skills. Players work on receiving under light pressure, changing direction with the ball, basic shooting technique, and simple decision-making. Every session has a clear focus, and I start connecting the technical work to real game situations so the skills transfer faster.
Once the foundation is solid, we focus on applying skills under more pressure and improving game awareness. Players work on combination play, movement off the ball, finishing in tighter spaces, and making better decisions during small-sided games. Training becomes more individualized based on the playerβs strengths, weaknesses, and goals.
I start with a detailed assessment of the playerβs current technical level, movement, decision-making, and positional habits. We identify clear strengths and specific areas that need improvement. From there, I create a focused plan so every session has a clear purpose and measurable goals.
We begin targeting the biggest gaps found in the first session. This usually includes refining technique under higher pressure, improving first touch and body positioning, and introducing more advanced ball mastery. Sessions are intense and purposeful, with constant feedback so the player understands exactly what to fix.
Training becomes more position-specific and game-realistic. Players work on decision-making at higher speeds, combination play, receiving under pressure, finishing in tighter spaces, and improving weak-side play. Every session challenges the player to execute skills at game intensity while building consistency.
At this stage the focus shifts to high-level application and long-term development. We work on game intelligence, scanning, timing of movements, and executing under fatigue. Training is fully individualized based on the playerβs position, goals, and match performance, with the aim of making their improvements show clearly in competitive games.
