Getting Comfortable With the Ball
Dribbling basics, passing intro, fun shooting, simple miniāgame.
1. Warmāup (5 min) ā toe taps, inside/outside rolls, light dribble tag.
2. Dribbling (10 min) ā weave through cones, add a āfakeā move at the end.
3. Passing (10 min) ā āgate passingā (pass through cone gates at varying distances).
4. Receiving (5 min) ā trap and control using inside/outside of foot.
5. Shooting (10 min) ā focus on laces shot, aiming for corners.
6. Miniāgame (10 min) ā 1v1 or āscore in 5 secondsā challenge.
7. Recap (5 min) ā praise improvements, give one easy drill to practice at home.
Warmāup (5 min) Dynamic stretches, ball touches.
Ball Mastery (10 min) Toe taps + Vāpulls, dragāpush, insideāoutside cuts.
Skill Move of the Day (10 min) Teach one new move each session (stepāover, scissors, dragāback).
Passing/Receiving on the Move (10 min) Moving gates, giveāandāgo with cones.
SmallāSided Drill (10 min) 1v1, then progress to 2v1 or 2v2.
Finishing Fun Drill (5ā10 min) Timed shooting, target shooting, or penalty challenge.
MiniāGame / Scrimmage (10 min) Focus on using the new skill in game play.
1. Warmāup & Ball Mastery (5ā10 min) ā faster pace, advanced combos.
2. Skill Drill (10 min) ā 1ā2 advanced moves chained together.
3. Passing Patterns (10 min) ā oneātouch passing, overlaps, giveāandāgo.
4. SmallāSided Tactics (10ā15 min) ā 2v2 or 3v2 game with constraints (e.g. must make 3 passes before scoring).
5. Finishing Under Pressure (10 min) ā defender closes down quickly after first touch.
6. Scrimmage (10 min) ā Encourage creativity and applying new skills.
