Being born into a soccer family, I was always destined to play the game. My passion for the sport didn’t truly ignite until I began giving back to the community through coaching. Although I faced many adversities during my playing career, I managed to overcome them and became a better player for it. Beginner training plan
Your first lessonGet to know each other and discuss goals, strengths, and weaknesses.
Lesson 11+Continuing to improve your touch on the ball and general understanding of the game.
Lesson 4-10Diving into ball control and introducing game aspects.
Lesson 2-3Getting comfortable with the soccer ball on your foot. Learning simple touches you can take home with you.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonThis will mostly me a talking session. We will get to know each other and we will discuss your goals, strengths, weaknesses, and anything else you feel I need to know.
Lesson 11+At this point, sessions are mostly “ran” by the player. I still plan the drills but we are working solely on what they need to focus on the most. This is the level I would get into positional development.
Lesson 4-10Determine what it takes to get to the next level and continue to improve ball control and a general understanding of the game.
Lesson 2-3Always begin with touches in some fashion. Then depending on your needs, we will begin with the basics of the category of your choosing.
Youth players
Working with kidsAt this age, I focus on keeping the ball at their feet and keeping them moving. Standing still or near friends causes distractions. Keep things light hearted and more play games instead of directional drills.
Working with teenagersAt this age, I focus on understanding the game and improving ball handling skills. This is when I start to let them guide the training sessions based on their needs and what they are wanting to focus on.
