Beginner training plan
Your first lessonObjective:
To familiarize players with the fundamentals of softball, including basic skills, rules, and teamwork.
Duration:
1 hour
Warm-Up
- Light jogging and dynamic stretches (arm circles, leg swings)
- Specific drills to warm up arms and legs (e.g., shoulder rolls, lunges)
Introduction to the Game
- Overview of the game: Explain the objective, basic rules, and positions.
- Discuss the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.
Basic Skills
- Throwing:
- Proper grip and stance.
- Mechanics of throwing (step, aim, follow-through).
- Partner throwing drills to practice accuracy and distance.
- Catching:
- Introduce the two-handed catching technique.
- Practice catching ground balls and fly balls using softballs or tennis balls.
- Emphasize the importance of watching the ball into the glove.
- Hitting:
