We’ll Begin with a warm welcome to the ocean and an introduction to the basics of surfing. We will then focus on safety by explaining beach etiquette, identifying rip currents, and understanding surf conditions. You’ll learn the proper way to carry the board and how to lie on it, as well as learning the proper paddling technique. We will practice your pop-up on land, ensuring you feel comfortable before hitting the water. We will have the second half of the lesson in the water, allowing you to practice paddling and catching small, gentle waves with guidance
Any lessons after 11 will be critiquing minor errors while you begin to choose your own waves, and considering the possibility of riding a smaller board if you’re trying to downsize.
In these lessons, the importance of paddling and positioning for wave selection in lesson four while reinforcing previous techniques . Focusing on consistency in popping up and riding waves. Lessons five and six we will dive deeper into foot placement and weight shifts for better turns. Introduce basic paddling drills to improve endurance. In lesson seven, we will add in techniques for riding unbroken waves and understanding wave dynamics.
The second lesson will be reviewing the pop-up technique and focusing on balance. The majority of the lesson will be us practicing your pop up technique in the water. I’ll then Introduce turning techniques, both on the board and in the water, emphasizing the importance of weight distribution. In the third lesson, we’ll be reinforcing the pop-up and turning skills while adding in a discussion about reading the waves and positioning on the board
