What you need to bringStudents should bring a swimsuit they feel comfortable and confident in! A swim suit appropriate for your level of experience is recommended and you can always reach out to me if you have any questions surrounding that!Goggles are encouraged, and a swim cap is helpful, especially for those with longer hair.
If the student is under 16, I request that at least one parent or guardian be present unless we’ve discussed otherwise in advance. While I am lifeguard and first aid certified, I always take the time to connect with parents before lessons to make sure everyone feels on the same page!
Most importantly, bring yourself! You are welcome as you are! If you are bringing fear or anxiety in with your first lesson, I’m here to work with you in the way that best suits and supports your own abilities! If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that swimming is meant to be fun, but that comes with it’s own challenges, whether that be not feeling in the mood, nervous about the anticipation of the unknown, or super excited and ready to hop in, showing up is a win in itself and it’s something we’ll build on to make you the best version of YOU! We’re in this together, and moving through the discomfort is where the magic happens!
What I can bringI come prepared with kickboards, fins, pull buoys, and paddles, depending on the lesson. For younger or beginner swimmers, I also bring floatation aids and toys to make the session fun and confidence-building. My approach is personalized, so I’ll always check in before lessons to ensure the right gear and plan are in place.
