Start with short-court rallies to assess level. Once areas of improvement are identified, we'll start with the fundamentals of groundstrokes. We'll work on stroke preparation (lower-body base, unit turn, hand separation), proper backswing (loop, racquet drop), then lastly contact position and follow through. Once you can consistently strike hand-fed balls, we will move onto balls fed from across the net. By the end of your first lesson, you will have the ability to rally across the net for 10 or more shots.
Ongoing support with technical improvements, fitness and mental game development. Lots of point play to realistically simulate match play, so we can identify areas that still need improvements.
Address areas of natural limitation (some people learn a forehand quickly, but struggle with the backhand more). Discussion of point play strategy, and depending on a player's goals, incorporation of doubles concepts.
Continuation of groundstroke fundamentals. We'll also begin to incorporate volley, serve, and overhead technique. More focus on proper tennis footwork. By the end of lesson 3 you will be able to play points and keep score in a match.
Consult with players on their tennis experience and goals with lessons. Are you struggling to put away close matches, or is there a particular stroke that is holding you back from your highest potential? I'll determine what you need to improve to raise your UTR by 1+ points.
