In our first lesson, we’ll build a strong foundation by covering the basics of tennis - rules, scoring, court layout, and essential equipment. You’ll learn fundamental skills like proper grip, stances, and basic strokes to start hitting with confidence. My goal is to create a supportive, inclusive environment where you feel comfortable, encouraged, and excited to grow your game from day one.
In lessons 11+, we’ll focus on sharpening your skills with drills that simulate real game situations. You’ll develop stronger patterns and court awareness through serve +1 scenarios, point play, serve return practice, serve and volley drills, and point play. These sessions are all about refining technique while building confidence under pressure, and preparing you to compete, or simply play your best with consistency and intention.
In lessons 4-10, we’ll deepen your skills through consistent repetition, movement, and live play. You’ll gain confidence with rallying, directional control, and serve fundamentals, as well as net play. We’ll also start to work on understanding point play and strategy.
One of my favorite drills at this stage is a forehand and backhand progression - starting with hand fed balls, moving to racket fed, all the way to hitting live balls, designed to build clean technique, rhythm, and confidence from the ground up. Each session is geared toward your continued improvement.
In lessons 2-3, we’ll build on the fundamentals by developing your forehand and backhand technique, introducing rally skills, and exploring basic footwork and positioning. You’ll start hitting with more consistency and confidence while learning how to move effectively on the court. Each session will be tailored to your pace, with a focus on progress, encouragement and enjoying the process.
In lesson one, I’ll assess your current level through live hitting and drills, focusing on stroke fundamentals, movement patterns, and shot selection. We’ll also review your goals, whether that’s league play, tournaments, or just hitting a cleaner ball, and identify key areas for technical or tactical improvement. It’ll be collaborative and competitive, with a focus on precision and performance.
In lessons 11+, our focus will shift to executing under pressure. Favorite advanced drills include serve +1, return practice, point play with specific tactical goals, serve and volley sequences. We’ll emphasize anticipation, patterns, and decision making. These sessions will be competitive, efficient and tailored to challenge your edge.
Equally important is your mental game, developing resilience, focus, and a mindset that thrives on growth and completion. We’ll also discuss ways to stay composed in tough moments, building routines, and learning how to adapt mid match.
In lessons 4-10, we’ll focus on skill consolidation through high rep, game like scenarios. We’ll run progression drills to build a rhythm under pressure. We’ll practice offense and defense transitions, recovery positioning, and consistency drills that simulate real time point construction.
In lessons 2-3, we’ll reinforce technical clean up where needed, tightening up footwork, spacing, and shot execution - while introducing more tactical frameworks. You’ll develop more control over depth, spin and direction, while applying patterns like rally ball + finishing ball. These sessions will be dynamic and customized, striking a balance between refining technique and building match ready habits.
