About your tennis coach

I managed the girls' varsity tennis team for two years in high school, preparing them for matches and major competitions alongside the head coach. As a player, I competed in intense district and state-level matches on the boys' varsity team. Additionally, I recruited new members for both teams over the summer and dedicated several hours each week to match play.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFor our first lesson, we start off with the fundamentals: forehands and backhands. I'll break each stroke down into terms that are easy to understand and go over our grip, stances, positioning, and timing.
Lesson 2-3For the next few lessons, I introduce targeting, which allows me to watch closely for the player's strengths and weaknesses.
Lesson 4-10Throughout these lessons, I introduce volleys and serves. We continue to work on our fundamentals as well, refining footwork and technique.
Lesson 11+In future lessons, I introduce more complex strategies seen in doubles match play, as well as other shots, such as slices, drop-volleys, and overheads. We will continue refining our fundamentals each lesson as well.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonBaseline Assessment & Intensity High-intensity technical evaluation and movement drills to establish a performance baseline and identify tactical gaps.
Lesson 2-3Transition & Net Dominance Focus on short-ball recognition, attacking the mid-court, and refining the "Serve + 1" aggressive strategy.
Lesson 4-10Strategic Patterns & Depth Building "Inside-Out" and "Cross-to-Line" patterns to control rally depth, exploit angles, and force opponent errors.
Lesson 11+Match Mastery & Mental Toughness Specialized 2-on-1 pressure drills and high-stakes match simulations (e.g., "Down 4-5, 30-40") to build elite-level decision-making.

Youth players
Working with kidsI adapt my lessons by creating more basic and easier to understand lessons, trying to work mainly on fundamentals and learning proper techniques.

Working with teenagersI adapt my lessons by making them more engaging. I also work on improving fundamentals and techniques.

Jason’s a wonderful instructor, very patient and knowledgeable about tennis—both in its history as well as the technical aspects. I appreciate his teaching technique as well, it’s very intentional, which makes it easy to see the areas I need to improve, I see progress every week :)

I appreciated Jason’s lesson because he has a good eye for detail and offered some useful tips on my serve, which I wasn’t expecting but still found quite helpful. Still, I’d be interested to see how the lesson could build on that to help more with consistency. Definitely worth giving a try if you want a measured and supportive coach.

I’ve had a great experience training with Josh. He is knowledgeable, patient, and knows how to break things down in a way that makes it easy to improve. Since working with him, I’ve seen real progress in my technique, consistency, and overall confidence on the court. What stands out most is how intentional and professional he is in each session. Josh pays attention to detail, gives clear feedback, and pushes you to improve while still making the sessions enjoyable. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled and supportive tennis trainer.

I found the lesson quite helpful, especially with Jason’s support and friendly guidance, his strategies really stood out. Though I still want to work more on my backhand to better feel the ball, I do appreciate the resources he provided. Still, I think trying more of his tips could really make a difference. If you're looking for constructive advice, Jason’s approach is worth a try.
