I was the former 10 and Under Director at Northwood Racquet & Fitness Club in Easton, PA and have also led clinics/lessons for older junior players/adults. Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI’m a big believer in learning to “rally” first. Rallying is hitting the ball back and forth. By shortening the game some, we can quickly get anyone rallying, and truly learning what the game is all about. We can cover the basic stroke fundamentals to help with this!
Lesson 11+By this point, I know that regardless of athletic ability or skill, we will have established a solid foundation for playing. Depending on your goals, we can work to achieve these with more specific teaching.
Lesson 4-10After a few lessons, it’s time to continue to rally, but add elements of tennis where it fits. In other words, depending on how far along we’ve progressed, we can work on different shots and really hone in on what needs improved.
Lesson 2-3Once we establish some basics, we can start to evolve what we can do. Building a longer, consistent swing and learning different court positioning is crucial for building a base to improve!
