Byron Cubit Jr profile
About Byron

My name is Byron Cubit Jr, and I’m a passionate basketball coach from Kansas City, Missouri. Basketball has been a part of my life since I was 5 years old, and throughout my journey as a player, I learned that the game is about more than just skills—it’s about character, discipline, and growth on and off the court. I played four years of high school basketball, starting my career at Blue Valley North before transferring to Olathe North High School, where I earned a varsity spot as a sophomore. By my junior year, I was the starting guard, known for my defensive energy, ability to guard the opposing team’s best player, knock down the three, and run the offense with leadership and confidence. I finished my senior year at Lancaster High School in Texas, continuing my dedication to the game. I continued my basketball career at Arkansas Baptist College until a wrist injury required surgery. During my recovery, I found a new passion—coaching. I coached a summer league team for a year, and that experience opened my eyes to how much I love working with kids and helping them grow not just as athletes, but as young people. After that, I returned to college, but coaching never left my heart. As a coach, I believe in teaching the game the right way while also teaching life. I want young athletes to understand that success comes from hard work, discipline, and confidence—nothing is handed to you. I always encourage players to have fun, embrace the grind, and believe in themselves on and off the court. What sets me apart is the support I give my players beyond basketball. Whether they need help in the classroom, at home, or navigating life, I show up. I’m committed to motivating and guiding each player to reach their highest potential as an athlete and as a person. I coach because I truly love it, and I want to inspire the next generation with the same passion, joy, and determination that basketball gave me.
