Bio: As an Arizona native James’s passion for golf began in junior golf. He played high school and college golf before turning Professional after graduating from Arizona State University in 1987. While working at Camelback Golf Club as an assistant professional, James started their first junior program. After becoming a Professional Golfer’s Association (PGA) Class A Member in 1992, he started instructing full-time teaching students in golf schools and corporate outings. In 1996 he found a summer teaching position in Alaska, and to this day continues to teach golf each summer there. James has been a Teaching Professional at Las Sendas Golf Club since 2002 providing instruction for all types of players from beginners to professionals. Programs for members, individuals, juniors, clinics, groups, corporate, and golf schools. James provides individual analysis and works to make each student’s swing work best for them.

I teach at Papago golf course which is also the home Arizona State University golf teams. Papago Opened in September of 1963 and Hosted the 1971 USGA Public Links Championship with my father Arch as the first Head Professional. Watching him teach as I was growing up gave me the fundamentals for teaching philosophy that has carried with me throughout my entire career. I specialize in Private one-on-one lessons covering the entire spectrum of the game, but also will do group lessons and clinics for the short game only. I’m a casual player with a very good knowledge of the game and swing. With over a decade of caddying and playing under my belt, I’ve been able to help friends shave multiple strokes off their game with my simplistic approach. On a weekly basis, I (try) to play 18 holes, with 2-3 range and short game sessions thrown in the mix. Im typically a sub-80 player, with my best score being 71 (-1). If you struggle to break 90 or 100, I can guarantee a few lessons with me will get you to your score goals in no time!
