I’ve played tennis all my life, always having access to courts and developing a deep appreciation for the sport's unique rhythm and strategy. I believe that each player should develop their own style because we’re all different. My dad, a math, tennis, and boxing instructor, taught me that these disciplines share a lot in common. Mastering tennis is about perfecting your shots, serves, slices, and footwork, but it ultimately comes down to the mental game. On the court, you learn the "equations" of actions and behaviors needed to outplay your opponent, turning each match into an artful challenge of skill and technique. For me, tennis is about the joy of the game, not just winning or losing. It's a sport that starts with love and ends with respect—whether through a handshake, a hug, or a simple nod if you're too sweaty. Most importantly, tennis is always a good time, and it’s a lifelong sport that can help you live healthier and longer!

With over 3 decades of tennis playing and coaching under my belt, including a two-year stint at Mesa College, I bring a rich and diverse experience to my coaching. My journey into the dynamic world of Pickleball started a short 2 years ago, and in that short span, I've achieved a player rating of 4.0 to 4.5. Currently, I am currently a Pro-Certified instructor with the PPR (Professional Pickleball Registry) to further strengthen my Pickleball coaching credentials. "I started golf as a complete beginner and took lessons with Yixuan. After about 5–6 lessons, I’ve seen very clear improvement in my swing, ball contact, and overall confidence. The progress has been faster than I expected, which is why I decided to purchase a 10-lesson package. Yixuan is very patient, explains things clearly, and always tailors the lesson to my level. I started playing pickleball in 2014 and have been successful in local tournament play events. Due to my early experience, I started the pickleball program at my local tennis club in Scripps Ranch as it increased from 2 to 4 to 8 pickleball courts. From there, with the help of the tennis pro, we started with large groups (30 -40 players) for pickleball training sessions years ago until interrupted by the Covid pandemic. We were able to start training again in 2023 with our current expanded player base. For the last few years, I have continued with private training sessions at local recreation areas, parks and at résidences.
