From an experienced school teacher to a 4.5 rated Pickleball instructor, I've transitioned my dedication for teaching into a new athletic arena. With over 3 decades of tennis playing and coaching under my belt, including a two-year stint at Mesa College, I bring a rich and diverse experience to my coaching. My journey into the dynamic world of Pickleball started a short 2 years ago, and in that short span, I've achieved a player rating of 4.0 to 4.5. Currently, I am currently a Pro-Certified instructor with the PPR (Professional Pickleball Registry) to further strengthen my Pickleball coaching credentials. Despite my newfound passion for Pickleball, I still teach tennis, integrating the best of both sports into my training approach. Together, let's work on boosting your skills and raising your game!

I started playing pickleball in 2014 and have been successful in local tournament play events. Due to my early experience, I started the pickleball program at my local tennis club in Scripps Ranch as it increased from 2 to 4 to 8 pickleball courts. From there, with the help of the tennis pro, we started with large groups (30 -40 players) for pickleball training sessions years ago until interrupted by the Covid pandemic. We were able to start training again in 2023 with our current expanded player base. For the last few years, I have continued with private training sessions at local recreation areas, parks and at résidences.

When I was about 4 years old, my dad put a club in my hand and took me to his favorite municipal course in my hometown of Topeka, Kansas to play a few holes. That day was the day I fell in love with this beautiful game. My dad was my first instructor and he always made sure I had fun more than anything else. That is an approach that I really appreciate and one I want to make sure I carry over with my role as an instructor. "That lesson with Kerry was quite good, honestly. The focus on improving my technique really hit the mark, and I felt more confident on the board afterward. Though I still need to work on timing, the relaxed attitude Kerry maintains made the lesson feel natural. I particularly appreciated the guidance on paddling and positioning, which really helped me to catch waves more consistently.
