My name is Bill Barrett and I consider myself to be one of the luckiest people in the world! I have been playing golf since I was 5 years old. I had very successful amateur and collegiate careers before declaring professional status in 1981. I have enjoyed playing and teaching the game for over 47 years. My father, Boyd Barrett, taught golf for 50 years. My sister, Sharon Barrett, played on the LPGA Tour for 18 years and was a winner on the Tour. Following her retirement from the LPGA tour, Sharon taught golf for 13 years. I have been teaching golf for over 31 years. This gives me a firm understanding of what works and doesn’t work for my clients. Golf technology may change over the years; however, the basic fundamentals are key. Two components in a lesson is to keep it simple and make sure the person is having fun. I don’t know too many golf families that have more than 100 years of experience playing and teaching the game. I welcome an opportunity to make you a better player.

Want to learn guitar from someone who’s been at it for 25 years and still loves every minute of it? I’ve been lucky enough to tour the world, play arenas, and write and perform music across a wide range of styles — from Van Halen to Taylor Swift. I also sing, write songs, and play bass, ukulele, piano, and both electric and acoustic guitar. One of my original songs even won “Best Rock Song” at the San Diego Music Awards — something I’m really proud of! But more than anything, I love helping others find their voice on the instrument. With 15 years of teaching experience, I make learning fun, approachable, and tailored to you. I love all genres of music and can modify my teaching style to fit accommodation. If you’re new to guitar or experienced, I can teach at the pace of learning you are comfortable with. I am a seasoned musician with experience in the studio and on tour. I have been in multiple bands that have been nominated in various competitions. You can hear one of my bands on Spotify under Thea The Band. I have a Bachelors in Music with an emphasis on Guitar Performance from San Francisco State University. The mentors I had there helped me to see music on a whole new level. I have been teaching for almost two decades. I started teaching at my local recreation center in The San Francisco Bay Area at the age of 16. The local newspaper ended up writing an article about my guitar program that I was teaching there and the impact it had on my students. I created and ran a ukulele summer camp program with one of the local private schools. I curtail my lessons to fit each one of my students. People learn differently and what might work for one person may not work for another. I am passionate about teaching and I deeply care about each one of my students. Part of my lessons is to help students analyze their goals for music, whether it's playing music around the campfire or becoming a professional musician. I keep my lessons fun, informative, and challenging. I have worked with all levels and ages, with children as young as five years old. I have been told from students who have had multiple teachers that I am one of the best for helping beginners jump over those initial hurdles.
