For over a decade, soccer has been a central part of my life. I honed my skills and understanding of the game through competitive club soccer with notable clubs such as Carolina Rapids and Charlotte Soccer Academy. My dedication continued through my time playing Varsity soccer for Hopewell High School and at the collegiate level with the NC State University club soccer team. This extensive playing experience has provided me with an intimate knowledge of the game's technical nuances, strategic demands, and the dedication required to succeed. My aspiration to coach stems from a desire to continue my involvement in the sport I love, but more importantly, to positively impact young athletes. I am committed to working hands-on with players, not only to develop their on-field skills and elevate their performance but also to cultivate their character as athletes and individuals. I am a passionate and strategic coach with a clear vision: to help players reach their full potential through personalized training, detailed performance analysis, and a high-performance mindset. With a strong academic background in sports coaching and extensive experience in professional and collegiate leagues, I have developed my own training methodology designed to maximize a player’s technical, tactical, and physical development. My approach is based on intensity, tactical precision, and individual improvement, ensuring that each session is tailored to the specific needs of the player. Through my methodology, I help athletes sharpen their decision-making, refine their technical skills, and enhance their physical performance in game-realistic scenarios. In March of 2023, Gruindelingh was hired as an associate head coach at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., where he worked to plan, organize and implement high quality lessons, clinics, camps and other tennis programs. He also worked directly with the Director of Racquet Sports and other head professionals to identify areas of growth and options for increased revenue for the national training center. A four-year letterwinner at the University of South Alabama, Gruindelingh compiled a 60-50 overall singles record during his tenure, including a 44-37 mark in dual matches. He was a two-time All-Sun Belt Conference honoree in doubles, earning second team honors with Manuel Belda in 2014 and first team accolades with fellow Duke assistant coach Daniel Leitner a year later. His partnership with Leitner resulted in a 12-3 mark at No. 1 and a 17-5 record overall. Gruindelingh went 4-4 at No. 1 with Belda and posted a 15-8 overall doubles record. Gruindelingh graduated from South Alabama with his bachelor’s degree in business management in 2017, before going back to earn his master’s degree in health education in 2019.
