Joby Ross is a PGA of America Class "A" member and has been a golf instructor for 25 years. He has worked and taught at Burlingame Country Club and Peninsula Golf and Country Club. Joby has been a golf instructor at Mariners Point since 1996. Joby was in charge of the Jim McLean Golf Academy at Mariners Point (Mariners Point Golf Academy) where he worked and trained under Jim McLean. Joby earned Jim McLean Master Instructor status. He has been voted a top 50 instructor in California by Golf Digest, and was also nominated for Teacher of the Year in the Northern California PGA section. Joby's teaching style is consistent with the Jim McLean system, following systematic guidelines and parameters for swing improvement. I’ve had a passion for competitive golf from an early age, with achievements like winning the Peninsula Country Club Junior Championship in 1999 and holding records at Burlingame Country Club and Harding Park. I was ranked as the No. 1 player on a team with two future U.S. Open competitors and played for the UC Davis golf team in 2001 and 2002. I've trained with over 10 PGA professionals and attended the prestigious Jim McLean National Junior Summer Academy. With over three years of teaching junior golf, I love working with beginners and young players, while also running my own business, FORE Golf Towels.

He has worked at the Pleasanton Golf Center for the past 15 years working with some of the best golf professionals in the bay area. Recently, in 2021 he entered the PGA PGM Associate program. He is the Assistant Golf Professional now at Pleasanton Golf Center. John is very passionate about the game of golf and his goal is to share what he has learned in all of his years of experience with all of his students.
