While my education came from the school of hard knocks, playing in bands and recording in studios, I've honed my craft as a multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, performer, and producer. My musical approach centers on serving the song and the project as a whole, blending my guitar skills with hands-on leadership as a band leader. From live shows since the age of 13 to making records since 16, I've cultivated a deep understanding of every aspect of music, ensuring a seamless and captivating performance every time. Richard W. Singer is an experienced songwriter, performer, and educator with a passion for inspiring students of all ages to make music. Originally from Wooster, Ohio, Richard earned a BA in Music and Sound Recording from Columbia College Chicago in 2000. He’s worked in the music industry as a backline technician and sound engineer for iconic artists like The Beach Boys and Jimmy Cliff. With over 12 years of teaching experience at the Old Town School of Folk Music and other institutions, Richard combines his deep technical expertise with a fun, student-focused approach. Now based in Nashville, TN, he offers personalized guitar lessons to help students of all levels develop their skills, confidence, and creativity. Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to refine your technique, Richard is ready to help you reach your musical goals.
