I began my journey working at a private PB club where it was part of my job to learn how to play, I was hooked right away. I was inspired by the coaches loving what they did and seeing the players get better as they came off the court from a lesson or clinic. I have been teaching locally at HOA's and within my own community and decided to get my certification in March 2025 so I would be properly registered and insured. Lucy is a PPR certified Pickleball pro who has been teaching Pickleball for the past 7 years. She had previously taught tennis for over 25 years. Outside of Pickleball, Lucy is a retired nurse practitioner and a well-known member of the Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch and Sarasota Pickleball community. She is also a sponsored athlete from Team Head Pickleball and the Regional Marketing Coordinator for the state of Florida and Georgia. Lucy is also bilingual and speaks fluent Spanish.

I struggled with popping balls, my backhand returns and landing my serve consistently. Learned from Bacem that I don’t need to crush my serve and I just need to land it, now I almost land 100% of my serves. ✅ I also implanting his feedback on how to grip and position my paddle for backhand returns, how to be ready with my paddles at all times, how to anticipate the ball and read the play. Students should come prepared with essentials for a safe and enjoyable session. At minimum, wear comfortable athletic clothing (breathable shirts, shorts or pants that allow movement), non-marking court shoes with good lateral support to prevent slips on the hard surface, and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated—pickleball can get intense! Sunglasses or a hat are recommended for outdoor play, along with personal sunscreen. If you already own a pickleball paddle and balls, bring them to get personalized feedback, but it’s not required initially since I’ll provide extras. Optionally, a towel, snacks for energy, and any personal protective gear like knee braces if needed. Focus on comfort to maximize learning!

Sessions are kept to 45-60 minutes, with frequent breaks, and I incorporate storytelling (e.g., “become a pickleball superhero!”) to teach rules and strategy. I use smaller courts or adjusted net heights if needed, and provide lightweight paddles and kid-sized balls for easier handling. Positive reinforcement and group activities foster teamwork and confidence.
