Chicago has 13 active pickleball coaches offering lessons across the city's public parks, with prices ranging from $50 to $188 per session and an average rate of $76. Whether you're looking to learn at Clarendon Community Center Park in Uptown or Union Park near the West Loop, you'll find solid coaching options in neighborhoods where the sport is growing fast. With over 400 lessons taught across Chicago's courts, there's a real community building here.
Chicago's pickleball scene thrives because the city has invested in quality public courts at parks like Clarendon and Union Park, making the sport accessible across neighborhoods from the North Shore to the West Side. The Midwest's cooler spring and fall weather is actually ideal for pickleball - you avoid the intense summer heat that plagues southern markets - and locals take advantage of the outdoor season aggressively. The city's strong amateur sports culture means coaches here understand how to teach competitive players who want to improve their game, not just casual rec players.
Located in Uptown at 4501 N Clarendon Ave, this park has hosted the most lessons (75) with 3 active coaches, making it the busiest coaching hub for pickleball in Chicago.

Initial lesson is an assessment to test the ability of the player. I’ll put them through scenarios likely to be encountered in play and gauge their ability to respond to each. From that assessment I’ll devise a coaching plan that we’ll follow of the course of the next group of lessons.

First and foremost, bring water! We’ll be moving so it’s important to stay hydrated as to avoid cramps and dehydration. I as for clothing, I suggest to wear active clothes that don’t restrict movement, and have a good pair of running/tennis shoes that you trust. More often than not it may be hot out. And sunny, too if we’re playing during the day! It wouldn’t hurt to have a towel, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc as backup.
