Hello! My name is Steven and I’m a former Division I tennis player. A little bit about me: I began my college tennis career at Eastern Washington University, a Division I school in the Big Sky Conference. I played #1 singles and competed against top programs such as the University of Washington, University of Utah, Gonzaga University, and the University of Oregon. After my sophomore year, I transferred to Indiana University Indianapolis, where I played primarily #2 singles and #2 doubles. During my time there, I earned multiple conference honors, including being named Horizon League Player of the Week twice and Doubles Team of the Week once. I also served as team captain during my senior year. I've been around the sport of tennis my entire life, and having the opportunity to coach is truly a privilege. I’ve been playing tennis since I was 15 and have remained passionate about the game for over 40 years. I played varsity high school tennis for a top CIF team and started working in tennis clubs at 18 — first at the front desk and maintaining courts, and eventually moving into full-time teaching by my mid-20s. I’ve competed in A and Open-level tournaments and played beach paddle tennis daily for years. I’ve run adult and junior clinics at public courts, city recreation centers, and private clubs throughout Orange County, including Mission Viejo and Laguna Woods. While I later completed my degree at Cal State Fullerton and built a career outside of tennis, I’ve never stopped playing — currently twice a day — and I’m ready to return to coaching.
