Hi welcome to my bio! I come from a very sport-centric family and have been playing tennis since the age of six at various levels. With over 30 years of tennis experience as a former college player and coach since 2007 I bring expertise in developing your technical skills, mentality, and fitness. One of my strengths is incorporating comprehensive and scientific-based nutrition advice to optimize your performance on court. Above all else my goal is to make tennis fun and competitive while fostering a love for the sport. See you on court!

My passion for tennis ignited on the court during my college years, and for the past 45 years, I've channeled that passion into coaching. I was the former Head Tennis Coach at Chapman University. I've developed All-Americans and National Champions along with players making H.S teams. With my coaching experience assistant coaching during summer camps at Pierce College and Cal State Northridge allows me to focus on fundamentals. Along with my playing experience as a top 500 ranked junior in the Southern California 16’s and under division and varsity high school tennis player, will allow me to share my knowledge and skills to help you with your tennis goals. I am also a member of USTA Coaching and USTA Coaching and PlaySafe certified.

With over a decade of competitive playing experience and a career in education, I'm dedicated to helping players of all levels reach their personal tennis goals. My approach blends proven techniques with a fun, engaging atmosphere, fostering a love for the game while building strong fundamentals.

I bring a strategic eye and engaging enthusiasm to every court, blending technical precision with a personable, professional coaching style. With 20 years teaching and a background as an Experienced Player, I specialize in stroke development, tactical insight and building confident, resilient athletes.

I was a four-year varsity player at Oberlin College and currently work in economic consulting. I am also currently building a post-match feedback platform for competitive players (we are currently demoing the product for a select group of players). Outside of tennis, I completed a 2,800 mile walk across America a few years ago and recently completed an Ironman. I value discipline, consistency, and long-term development, and I enjoy working with players who want to improve and are willing to put in the work.

Officially trained & Internship for Nike Inc. /Tennis Division/ Challenge Court. Coach Larry Vargas started his coaching & tennis experience first with "NIKE INC. in the TENNIS DIVISION" This provided the opportunity to work & interact inside a top level tennis environment with professional coaches/ trainers and even TOP RATED USTA TENNIS PLAYERS. He then went on to receive his C.I.F. Coaching Certificate and became the Head Tennis Coach for Notre Dame High School/ Riverside. He also became part of the "JR. TENNIS.PROGRAM" for the city of Riverside offering group tennis lessons for kids of all ages. Coach Vargas specializes in coaching / training young adults & kids of all ages. From: beginners/ intermediate & advanced players. along with providing drills & a great workout using his own Tennis Ball Machine. Personal lesson programs are created to show planned lessons & progress of each tennis player within a few lessons! I Look forward to hear from you and working together.
