Starting in high school, I climbed from bottom of JV to become Varsity Captain, mastering both singles and doubles play. This passion eventually led me to Club Tennis at Penn State University, and pursue my passion of playing / teaching tennis.

Coach Adriana is a PTR certified instructor with the ability to help players of varying skills improve their technique, footwork, strategy, and mental game. She has been coaching tennis to juniors and adults since 2002. She is also the head coach at First Serve Tennis Academy. She values every opportunity to be a mentor and role model working to promote a positive, safe, and player-centered learning environment. As a tennis coach, I’ve been teaching at Kim Grant Tennis Academy in Palo Alto, California and volunteered for a day at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in New York. Coached at the Fairfax Racquet Club in Fairfax, Virginia & Tuckahoe Tennis Club in McLean, Virginia as an Assistant Head Tennis Coach. Currently, he is Flint Hill’s Assistant Varsity Coach for both boys and girls. He serves on several organizational committees for the USPTA including as the State President of Ohio and the Midwest ELEVATE committee. Nick has received several awards including Lessons.com Top 10 instructor 2020 (Northern Virginia), PTR’s Member of the Year (2013), and was named the Washington Post’s High School Coach of the Year in 2010. He specializes with developing junior tennis players using a progression based format. He believes in developing relationships first. By building positive, trusting relationships, he believes that anyone can learn the game of tennis.

I began playing tennis before I could walk. By age 11 I competed year-round in the Texas Junior Circuit. From age 9 to 13 I was coached by the greats John Wilkerson and Edgar Arnold and was on track to begin competing nationally by age 14. I have competed in tennis, football, and baseball at the collegiate, and professional levels for the majority of my life.

I established my tennis career in 1996 competing through high school and two years on the collegiate level for the University of the District of Columbia. During that time period I traveled to the United States Tennis Association National event as well as the American Tennis Association National event. In 1997 I was a finalist in many local tournaments and statewide. I carried my championship spirit through 1998 quickly climbing the state of Maryland local ranking system. In 1999 my doubles partner and I finished in 2nd place at the ATA National event. Talking about excited!

Fueled by two decades on the court, I offer strategic tennis instruction honed from my collegiate playing days. My focus is on cultivating technique and fostering a deep love for the game. I am excited to share my expertise with aspiring players of all levels.
