Since I’m fairly new to pickleball, having only watched games I decided to sign up for lessons. Ryan started me off with simple drills to help me build foundation with using a paddle. After I was getting the hang of things he introduced me to swing techniques to control the ball which I found similar to what I learned in tennis. Ryan’s teaching is very helpful and he does a great job of adjusting the focus when I’m either learning fast or could use more assistance.

Ryan was a really great coach. After rallying for a few minutes he could tell what improvements i needed to make, and put me on some great drills. My groundstrokes developed so much after our first lesson, and I even learned a few new techniques during the second lesson. Take lessons from Ryan if you want to make FAST improvements to your game.

As a former tennis player new to pickleball, I struggled with certain aspects of the sport. Taking lessons with Ryan helped me become more pickle-oriented. During lessons he would give me drills for my weaknesses like volleys, dinking, and teach the proper footwork. After just a few sessions my skill improved tremendously! Thank you, Ryan!!

I had a difficult time with serving and was always frustrated whenever I would miss my mark. I took a lesson from Ryan and he helped me improve so much! He taught me proper form and gave me pointers on how to be more consistent with my serves. I recommend Ryan for anyone who might be new to pickleball and wants to learn the fundamentals.

Ryan helped me prepare for an upcoming tournament by giving me an analysis of my gameplay. During our session he also helped me stop my bad habits that I wasn’t conscious of. Beginner training plan
Your first lessonGoing over the format of pickleball, how it’s played, and the rules behind the sport. We dive deep talking about the parts of the court and scoring system.
Lesson 11+Following sessions will include specific drills based on my students’ needs. Around this time is when I will start to put my students into real game scenarios and teach them how to handle common plays.
Lesson 4-10These lessons are all about fine-tuning the essential aspects of playing pickleball. Specific drills we’ll focus on involve forward, backward, and lateral movement as well as fundamentals of serving.
Lesson 2-3Basic strategy for running through a game, includes both doubles and singles formats. We also begin with hitting around to develop basic hand-eye coordination.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonInitial lesson is an assessment to test the ability of the player. I’ll put them through scenarios likely to be encountered in play and gauge their ability to respond to each. From that assessment I’ll devise a coaching plan that we’ll follow of the course of the next group of lessons.
Lesson 2-3The following lessons will be strengthening the approach strategy by working on building volatile 3rd shot drops and drives. Following up with this lesson will be in-depth movements and understanding cues on when and how to advance from baseline into the kitchen for advantage.
Youth players
Working with kidsFor the younger crowd I like to incorporate video demonstrations to help them visually understand the process of pickleball. I also provide pros to use to guide their learning.
Working with teenagersWith teenagers I’ll incorporate goals into the lessons so that they have incentive to do their best.
What you need to bringFirst and foremost, bring water! We’ll be moving so it’s important to stay hydrated as to avoid cramps and dehydration. I as for clothing, I suggest to wear active clothes that don’t restrict movement, and have a good pair of running/tennis shoes that you trust. More often than not it may be hot out. And sunny, too if we’re playing during the day! It wouldn’t hurt to have a towel, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc as backup.
