Ready to take your soccer game to the next level? I'm passionate about sharing my 20 years of playing/coaching experience to help athletes reach their full potential on and off the field. Open to all age groups and abilities, I work with every player on an individual basis to identity, develop, and maximize each player’s skillset! Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI start with some basic passing drills, ranging from short to long to allow the player to get comfortable touching the ball around. After that, I will work on some basic ladder agility drills, followed by cone dribbling techniques to develop the agility portion of the game. Finally, I use small goals to work on accuracy in the final aspect of soccer: finishing/scoring goals!
Lesson 11+In these lessons, I add skills such as juggling the soccer ball, and I would try to add skills such as controlling the ball with other parts of your body/working on defensive shape/heading. Once the basics have been developed, we want to work on the other nuances of the game! Additionally, I will include other drills that work on the intellectual side of the game, working to develop the player’s mind while they are on the field. Soccer is an intellectual sport, ultimately!
Lesson 4-10During these lessons, I would move from small-sided work to work in a bigger space: long-passing, shooting on a bigger goal, etc.
Lesson 2-3In these lessons, I repeat my initial lesson plan with some slight add-ons/variations. Repetition/muscle memory is the most important thing for a beginner!
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonAdvanced agility/ladder footwork, advanced cone dribbling, first touch and shooting drills, IQ testing in game situations.
Lesson 11+Repetition of advanced work, position dependent!
Lesson 4-10Advanced work dependent on player’s position (ie: defender - defensive shape, 1v1 defending, clearing free kicks/corners/dangerous situations, midfielder - passing accuracy, corner kick practice, IQ development/tactical decision-making, forward - finishing drills, penalty/free-kick practice, hold-up play)
Lesson 2-3Repetition of first lessons! Muscle memory is key!
Youth players
Working with kidsAlthough the basics are the same, we can use simplified drill concepts and less-intense sessions to create a kid-friendly environment!
Working with teenagersI use similar concepts for teenagers, dependent on overall skill level/comfortability with the game. Each lesson is tailored to the wants/needs of the student!
