In keeping with the philosophy of Bobby Jones, the first person to capture all of golf’s major championships as an amateur, I believe that dedication and proper technique are essential for success in any endeavor. When you start playing competitivley you find that simply participating is not enough; one must strive to master the fundamentals and execute them correctly to fully appreciate and excel at the game of golf & life. Over the years I have dedicated tens of thousands of hours to the practice and implementation of the mechanics in the golf swing. This has granted me unique insights into the mental and technical aspects of playing well. I encourage a mindset of commitment and continuous improvement for myself and my students alike, regardless of one’s skill level.
"The lesson was quite helpful, especially in understanding how to better position my club. Joshua’s technique really clarified some of my earlier doubts, though I still need to work on my tempo to see consistent improvements. Still, I’m hopeful about applying these tips on the course. If you’re considering a lesson, Joshua’s approach is pretty solid, and I’d say worth trying out.

"Mario was exceptional in his understanding of what I needed to work on in my swing. He helped me correct some flaws and I was definitely striking my irons and woods much better. He took his time in explaining the fundamentals and how they would apply to my swing. Well done!

Welcome to Golf Lessons by P. Kollar, where passion meets precision in the charming city of Fountain Valley, CA. Mile Square Golf Club is my home course, where you’ll often find me working on my game. As a dedicated golf instructor, I specialize in offering a personalized coaching lesson in golf. Whether you're a beginner eager to learn the basics and fundamentals of the game or intermediate player aiming to refine your overall golfing ability, the lessons I implement are designed to enhance your overall golf game, while most importantly helping you to enjoy your time spent practicing. As a graduate of Golf Academy of America, Carlsbad, California (sadly no longer in business), I studied the psychology of golf, complex teaching and course management. I also learned how to build a set of golf clubs as well as mastering the complex rules of golf, and the overall fundamentals of how to coach and instruct students. During my 2 years at GAA, I quickly excelled, making the competitive Club Golf Team. I came to learn that there are no two identical golf swings. It is my job to assist you to find the mechanically correct way to improve your swing and develop your short game. Whenever you’re ready to lower that scorecard, I’m ready to coach you!
"That lesson sparked a fresh grip change and clear goals, plus I can feel the swing staying steadier. A few head-still, weight-shift drills will really lock it in, and I’m excited to continue.

In addition to coaching Pickleball, I am deeply passionate about golf—a game I’ve loved since 2007. Over the years, I’ve not only dedicated myself to improving my own skills but also found joy in sharing the game with others. Each year, I volunteer at the Celebrity Tournament, an experience that keeps me connected to the excitement and community of the sport. One of my most memorable moments was playing in a tournament alongside a professional golfer. That experience shifted my perspective from an amateur’s approach to seeing the game through a pro’s vision—completely transforming how I play and how I teach. My goal is to help others make that same leap in their game, whether you’re just starting out or looking to sharpen your skills. Golf is more than just a sport—it’s a great way to spend quality time with friends and family, enjoy the outdoors, and stay active. If you’re ready to learn, I’d love to help you take your first swing and discover all the joy golf has to offer.

She teaches me to believe in myself and I can achieve anything, so I am mentally stronger and determined to learn how to play golf. Deep down I know if I try my best, I can learn to be the best at anything even golf. Thank you Coach Katherine

"As someone who has never taken a golf lesson before, I wasn’t sure what to expect—but you made the entire experience incredibly comfortable from the start. Being a family friend, I thought I might feel a little awkward or out of place, but it was the complete opposite. You were professional, patient, and surprisingly good at explaining things in a way that made everything feel simple and doable. I appreciated how you broke down the basics without overwhelming me, and how you gave feedback that was encouraging rather than intimidating. What really stood out was how natural the lesson felt—like learning from someone I trust, but still getting the kind of quality instruction I’d expect from a seasoned coach. By the end of the session, not only did I feel more confident in my swing, but I actually understood what I was doing and why. For a first lesson, that meant a lot. Thanks for making the experience such a positive one. I walked in unsure and walked out excited to keep learning—couldn’t ask for more from a coach or a friend.

I’ve been playing golf since I was 10 years old and competed in nationally ranked junior tournaments throughout my youth. I played high school golf and was recruited by the University of Oregon, where I earned a full ride scholarship to play on the women’s golf team. After college, I pursued a professional career on tour for a couple of years before transitioning to become a golf instructor. Now, I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge and helping others improve their game!
